The Houston Texans made a roster move on Thursday that indicates they will get their top kicker back in the fold for their Week 4 meeting against the Buffalo Bills.

The Texans (1-2) announced that kicker Joey Slye has been waived. Doing so indicates that Ka’imi Fairbairn’s three-game stint on Houston’s injured reserve list is going to come to an end.

The move was expected as the Texans designated Fairbairn to return off of IR earlier this week as well. He had been dealing with a leg injury.

Fairbairn pulled a muscle during warmups of Houston’s final preseason game.

Slye was 7-of-8 on extra points and 4-of-5 on field goals, but Fairbairn is a noted NFL placekicker.

The last time the Bills saw him, he booted the game-winning kick in overtime in the 2019 Wild Card game that sent Buffalo packing from the postseason.

That game was the first playoff appearance for Buffalo during the Josh Allen era.
