Texans improve two spots in USA TODAY NFL power rankings

The Houston Texans are winless after three weeks, but managed to go up two spots in the USA TODAY NFL power rankings.

The Houston Texans may be 0-3 after giving up a fourth quarter lead amid a 28-21 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but the AFC South club managed to improve two places in the latest USA TODAY NFL power rankings.

According to Nate Davis from USA TODAY, the Texans are No. 20, up two spots from last week.

20. Texans (22): They also started 0-3 in 2018 … and wound up winning AFC South. That’s probably not attainable in 2020, but a wild-card berth in expanded postseason field is realistic with the Chiefs/Ravens/Steelers gauntlet past and all of Houston’s divisional games still ahead.

The Tennessee Titans remain the highest ranked AFC South team in the power rankings as they went up from No. 8 to No. 7 after their 31-30 win over the Minnesota Vikings. The Indianapolis Colts improved three places, going from No. 18 to No. 15. The Jacksonville Jaguars took a big plunge after losing to the Miami Dolphins, going from No. 17 to No. 27.

In the power rankings that matter, the standings, the Texans are last place in the division with an 0-3 record. With the winless Vikings coming to NRG Stadium, the Texans have to figure a way to get a win, because the moral victory of going up slots in power rankings while continually taking losses won’t result in playoffs.
