Texans elevate C-G Michael Deiter, P Ty Zentner to active roster

The Houston Texans have elevated punter Ty Zentner and guard-center Michael Deiter from the practice squad to the active roster for Week 1.

The Houston Texans have declared their two practice squad elevations ahead of their Week 1 encounter with the Baltimore Ravens Sunday at 12:00 p.m. Central Time at M&T Bank Stadium.

Rookie punter Ty Zentner figured to be one of them as Cam Johnston is on injured reserve. The other elevation is guard-center Michael Deiter, who will provide game day depth as the Texans work through their injuries along the offensive line’s interior.

Deiter has started 23 of his 57 games active since entering the NFL in 2019 as the Miami Dolphins’ third-round selection.

Both Zentner and Deiter have two more elevations remaining. If the Texans were to elevate a player four times off the practice squad in a season, the fourth elevation would require signing that player to the active roster.
