Terrelle Pryor expected to survive stab wounds, is charged with simple assault

Former NFL quarterback and receiver Terrelle Pryor is expected to survive stab wounds, and has been charged with Simple Assault.

Earlier today, it was first reported by Pittsburgh station WTAE Action News that longtime NFL quarterback and receiver Terrelle Pryor was hospitalized with stab wounds to his shoulder and chest following an incident at the Heinz Lofts apartment complex in Pittsburgh. Pryor was origically listed in critical condition, but was upgraded through the day, and is expected to survive his wounds, per Gregory Diulus of Vantage Management Group, which represents Pryor.

According to the Pittsburgh Police Department, Shalaya Briston, 24, of Munhall, PA was arrested and has been charged with Criminal Attempt Homicide and Aggravated Assault.

Pryor, 30, was also charged with Simple Assault in the case.

Upon further investigation by detectives in the Violent Crimes Unit, it was learned the male’s injuries were incurred during an earlier dispute inside an apartment on the 200 block of Heinz Street on the city’s North Side. During that altercation, a female victim also received injuries.

After consultation with the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office, police have arrested two people believed to be mutual combatants in this incident.

Pryor has played for the Raiders, Browns, Redskins, Bills, and Jets in a career that started in 2011. He is best-known for his time at Ohio State, where he threw for 57 touchdowns and 26 interceptions, adding 17 rushing touchdowns from 2008 through 2010. His best NFL season came in 2016, when he caught 77 passes on 140 targets for 1,007 yards and four touchdowns.
