Tennessee Titans’ Week 9 Player of the Game: Jeffery Simmons

If the football world didn’t know just how special Jeffery Simmons was before Sunday night, it sure knows now.

During the Tennessee Titans’ Week 9 victory on the national stage against the Los Angeles Rams, and with the best interior defender in the NFL sitting on the opposite sideline, Jeffery Simmons was the best player on the field on Sunday night.

Simmons was instrumental in the Titans’ win on “Sunday Night Football” against the Rams, as he spear-headed a Tennessee pass-rush that was absolutely dominant all night long.

The Mississippi State product notched a total of three sacks, a single-game career-high, six tackles (three solo, three for loss) and four QB hits. Big Jeff was simply unstoppable, leading to his giving Los Angeles’ offense head aches all night long.

With those three sacks, Simmons now has 5.5 on the season, which is a new career-high for him. His previous best was three sacks in 2020.

If the football world outside of the Nashville wasn’t aware of Simmons before Sunday night, it is now. Big Jeff has officially arrived.

We also have to give a shout outs to Denico Autry and Kevin Byard, both of whom were somewhat overshadowed by Simmons’ sensational performance.

Byard grabbed his fifth interception of the season and took it to the house for his second defensive touchdown of the year, and Autry, who continues to be one of the biggest steals of 2021 free agency, tallied 1.5 sacks, 3 tackles (two solo, one for loss) and two passes defensed.
