Tennessee Titans’ RB duo ranked in top 10 for 2020 season

Derrick Henry and Darrynton Evans are expected to be among the NFL’s running back duos in 2020.

The Tennessee Titans were firing on all cylinders on offense during the 2019 season, and a lot of that had to do with the running game.

Going into 2020, they have their apparent quarterback of the future in Ryan Tannehill, a promising target in the passing game in A.J. Brown, and an absolute machine of a running back in Derrick Henry, who finished last season with the NFL’s rushing title (1,540 yards).

Newly-drafted running back Darrynton Evans out of Appalachian State has been added to the backfield, giving the Titans what should be an impressive duo at the position.

Matt Miller of Bleacher Report ranked the duo seventh in the league ahead of the season, behind the Denver Broncos and ahead of the New York Giants.

No running back has been more dominant than Derrick Henry in the last season-plus, but many around the league do wonder if he can continue at the pace he’s been on over the last 18 games. If he can, the Titans belong much higher on this list after the addition of rookie speedster Darrynton Evans. The duo of Henry and Dion Lewis never produced the balance the Titans wanted, but this one should, as Evans is an excellent receiver and has the outside running ability the team lacked.

The Titans quickly addressed the need of keeping Henry on board earlier this offseason, placing a franchise tag on the rusher to keep him in Tennessee for at least another season.

Henry is expected to be in for another big year in 2020, and it will be interesting to see just how much Evans is able to accomplish in his first year in the NFL.
