It’s a good time to be the Tennessee Volunteers basketball program… regardless of which.
Both the men’s and women’s programs have advanced to the Sweet 16. It’s the ladies are really pacing the school.
The No. 4 seeded Lady Volunteers rolled through their first two opponents, winning by a combined score of 102 against their first two opponents. That momentum alone might be enough to knock off the No. 1 seed, Virginia Tech, who await them in the Sweet 16.
Likewise seeded at No. 4, the men’s team didn’t have wins of the blowout variety but their seniors shined. After holding off a late charge from Louisiana in the opening round to take a 58-55 win, Tennessee had Duke on their radar next.
A powerhouse opponent regardless of their seeding, the Volunteers handled business in a 65-52 manner. Again the experience took hold against a freshman-filled opponent.
The dance goes on for Tennessee, and it’s time for the Vol faithful to cheer them on properly with Fanatics.
