Tennessee offers 2021 defensive end, SMU commit

The Vols are trying to pull this prospect out of his home state.

Tennessee is trying to poach an SMU commit, as the Vols extended an offer to defensive end Je’lin Samuels from Pasadena, Texas.

The Sam Rayburn High School product has a commanding presence, at 6-foot-7, 225 pounds.

Samuels is rated a 3-star prospect, the No. 43 weak-side defensive end in his class and the No. 95 player in Texas on the 247Sports Composite.

Despite his commitment to SMU, several teams have been pushing for Samuels. Schools like Baylor, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Colorado and Arizona State have offered the 2021 prospect.

Tennessee’s 2021 recruiting class has taken some hits with decommitments recently, and the Vols currently have the No. 13 class in the country.

The early signing period takes place Dec. 16-18 for the 2021 recruiting class. National signing day is Feb. 3.
