Tennessee will open its 2023 Saturday versus Virginia Saturday at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee.
Kickoff is slated for noon EDT and ABC will televise the matchup.
Saturday marks the fifth time the Vols will play on Sept. 2. Tennessee is 5-0 in contests played on Sept. 2.
Saturday also marks the first time the Vols have played away from Neyland Stadium on Sept. 2.
Tennessee first played on Sept. 2 in 1989, defeating Colorado State, 17-14. The Vols last played on Sept. 2 in 2021, defeating Bowling Green, 38-6.
