One of Joe Burrow’s new bodyguards is now a 2022 team captain for the Cincinnati Bengals.

That honor belongs to center Ted Karras, who joins Burrow and a list of others as team captains officially announced on Monday before Week 1:

  • Joe Burrow
  • Joe Mixon
  • Ted Karras
  • Sam Hubbard
  • Vonn Bell
  • DJ Reader
  • Michael Thomas

Karras joins Reader and safety Michael Thomas (special teams) as first-time captains for the Bengals.

Captains were voted by the players and Burrow’s comments about Karras earlier this summer, via the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Charlie Goldsmith, say it all: “Ted’s awesome to have in the locker room, on the field. He’s a great communicator, knows his stuff and never have to worry about him missing an assignment. He’s been unbelievable.”
