If losing to the Bengals wasn’t bad enough for the Jets, they endured an injury to their best player.
Jamal Adams entered the locker room with a walking boot on his left foot after Sunday’s 22-6 loss to the Bengals. Adams said after the game that he injured it on the first series of the game but played through it. Adams was ineffective, as he only recorded one tackle for the game.
Adams, tearful while speaking to reporters, said he’s not sure what the severity of the injury is. Adam Gase didn’t mention anything after the game about Adams getting hurt.
The 23-year-old safety has been on a tear over the last few games, Sunday’s performance was one of his worst to date. On the season, Adams has 64 combined tackles, 6.5 sacks, six pass defenses and one interception.
The Jets can’t afford to be without their star safety. He is the heart and soul of this team. Meanwhile, the defense has been hit with enough injuries that they’re running out of healthy bodies.
We’ll have to wait and see what Adams’ injury is, but he’ll likely get an MRI to see what is going on with that left foot. Until then, his status for the rest of the season remains in question.
