Taylor Swift shares the story behind her Grammys album announcement with the Eras Tour Tokyo crowd

It wasn’t a guarantee we would have heard about The Tortured Poets Department on Sunday night.

Taylor Swift stunned fans and onlookers on Sunday night as the singer-songwriter announced her 11th studio album while accepting the award for Best Pop Vocal Album for Midnights at the Grammy Awards. It was Swift’s 13th career Grammy, a number that holds particular meaning for the artist.

Swift fans thought there could be an announcement regarding her re-record of Reputation (Taylor’s Version), but were surprised with new content instead. Instead, The Tortured Poets Department will release in April.
