Tar Heels Wire on if UNC’s offense is real deal

We break down who the key UNC football players on offense are in order to beat Notre Dame.

As we get set for the Week 4 matchup between UNC and Notre Dame, the excitement is high in Chapel Hill for a 3-0 Tar Heels team.

With a defense that has struggled, it’s been UNC’s offense that has really carried the load for Mack Brown’s team. Backed by Drake Maye, the Tar Heels are one of the highest scoring teams in the country and will be getting Josh Downs back this week and potentially Antoine Green as well.

Going into this matchup, we talked to Fighting Irish Wire about some keys to the game including the offense.

Here’s what Zack Pearson of Tar Heels Wire had to say about the UNC offense to Fighting Irish Wire:

“I think a little bit of both. Notre Dame’s defense will be the best one UNC has faced all season long so it’s going to be a tough test. But this offense has been really good overall behind the play of Drake Maye and the run game with Omarion Hampton and George Pettaway. They are doing this without their two best receivers in Josh Downs and Antoine Green as well but both are expected back. Phil Longo’s air raid offense is finally starting to show up and UNC fans have waited a while for that.”

If UNC’s offense can continue the hot play and put up a lot of points, they should find themselves victorious on Saturday. However, the defense is going to have to be better as well.
