Tar Heels still out of AP Top 25 ahead of Week 4 matchup

The UNC football program received votes in the latest AP Top 25 poll that was released on Sunday after Week 3.

The UNC football program entered the bye week at 3-0 as they prepare for Week 4 against Notre Dame. And when the two teams meet on Saturday in Chapel Hill, it will be a battle of unranked teams.

Neither the Tar Heels nor the Fighting Irish are ranked in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll or Associated Press Top 25 poll this week. They received 72 votes, the fourth-most by teams left out of the poll putting them at No. 29 overall.

The Tar Heels are still receiving votes despite not being ranked and it shouldn’t be a shock to anyone that they aren’t ranked coming off the bye week. UNC still has work to do and getting a big win over Notre Dame could get them ranked after Week 4.

As for the AP Poll, a total of four teams were in the AP Top 25 headlined by Clemson at No. 5. NC State checked in at No. 12, followed by Wake Forest at 21 and Pitt at 25.
