Tar Heels rally in second half to get past Charleston

The UNC basketball program used a big second half to beat College of Charleston on Friday night in the Dean Dome.

Things didn’t look so great for North Carolina in the first half of Friday’s game against College of Charleston. The Tar Heels trailed 50-43 to the Cougars at halftime, getting out-rebounded and out-played in that first half.

But it was the second half that told the story.

North Carolina came out on a 9-2 run in the second half to tie the game, and eventually take a lead they wouldn’t relinquish minutes later. That effort was powered by [autotag]Armando Bacot[/autotag] and [autotag]Caleb Love[/autotag] who combined to score the first 19 points of the second half for the Tar Heels in the 102-86 win.

Bacot led the way for UNC with 28 points and 6 rebounds while Love had 25 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists in the win.

While UNC was sluggish again at times, they got the job done when it mattered the most in this one. They outscored Charleston 59-36 in the second half to power to the win and the 2-0 start.

Dalton Bolon led the Cougars with 16 points while Pat Robinson III had 14 and Ante Brzovic had 15.

The Tar Heels will get a little break this weekend before returning to action next week hosting Gardner-Webb on Tuesday. It was a nice win for UNC who got it together but there will be some things head coach Hubert Davis will want to work on moving forward.
