Tar Heels five-star target hoping to visit Duke, Kentucky

This five-star UNC basketball recruiting target says he wants to visit Duke and Kentucky sometime this Summer.

Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program only have a handful of offers out to prospects in the 2024 recruiting class as they continue to set their board here this Summer.

One player that landed an offer from UNC is five-star shooting guard [autotag]Tre Johnson[/autotag]. The Dallas, Texas native is ranked No. 3 overall in the 2024 class per the 247Sports recruiting rankings and is starting to see his recruitment pick up here in July. Johnson has a total of 16 offers and has Blue Blood programs like UNC, Duke, Kansas and Kentucky after him.

So far, Johnson has taken unofficial visits to Baylor and Texas but it sounds like he’s ready to set up more. And the two he mentioned to Joe Tipton of On3 are Duke and Kentucky:

So far, Johnson has taken unofficial visits to Baylor and Texas. Where else does he want to visit?

“Kentucky and Duke, but I don’t have anything set up yet.”

The G-League Ignite pathway has also started to become an option for Johnson, as they reached out earlier this summer. In his words, what are the pros and cons of the G-League option?

The Tar Heels are still in the mix for Johnson and could get a visit down the line as well. However, seeing him list the Blue Devils and Wildcats means UNC has some tough competition ahead.
