Notre Dame will have its work cut out for it in the quarterback battle against North Carolina. Jack Coan can take a slightly higher pass completion percentage into the matchup. He also can say he has thrown fewer interceptions. However, he can’t brag about much else as the Irish supposedly still are trying to figure out which quarterback puts them in the best position to win, or so Irish fans are hoping.

The Tar Heels have quite the quarterback in Sam Howell. There’s no reason to think NFL scouts aren’t taking a look at him, and playing at Notre Dame Stadium will be a good test for how well he can perform when the heat is turned up. His team might not have lived up to preseason expectations, but he remains a very talented player who gets results. That he can be just as effective with the run only increases his draft stock.
