Taking a look at the defensive line for the 2024 Kentucky football team

Taking a look at the defensive line for the 2024 Kentucky football team.

The 2024 football season is just around the corner, and Kentucky football fans are hopeful that the Wildcats will be competitive once again. The offense has been looked at, so now we switch sides to the defense, and specifically the Kentucky defensive line.

The line is led by defensive tackle Deone Walker, who could be one of the best players in the country. He’s huge, but moves like he’s much lighter. He is big enough to stuff the run, but quick enough to provide pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Walker is a potential top 10 pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

The starter in the middle is expected to be Josaih Hayes. He brings a lot of experience and consistency to the middle of the line. He’s another big body at 6’3″ and well over 300 lbs.

The other starter up front will likely be one of either Tre’Vonn Rybka or Octavious Oxendine. Both are veteran players who are coming off their best season.

Keeshawn Silver is a 6’4″, 322 lb nose tackle who will backup Hayes on the inside. He has starting ability if necessary, and is a former top rated recruit.

Kahlil Saunders also figures to be in the defensive line rotation next season. His versatility helps him get onto the field.

Kentucky’s highest rated recruit in 2024 is Brian Robinson, who should be able to see some time this year, and then take on a bigger role going forward.

If the Wildcats are going to be a top half of the league team, the defensive line is going to have to be a big part of things. They are very talented up front, and it should be a strength of the team, along with wide receiver. Deone Walker might be the star, but they have a lot of talent and depth. It should be a fun group to watch.
