One of the biggest components — if not the biggest — in the rebuilding of Florida football’s storied program according to head coach [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag] is on the recruiting front. After a decade of ups and downs stretching across three different head coaches, the former Louisiana Ragin’ Cajun was brought in last year to do what he excelled in at his last stop.
In years prior, recruiting efforts were often limited to particular times of the year, a practice that ultimately became the bane of former head coach [autotag]Dan Mullen[/autotag]’s existence in Gainesville. After his departure, it became clear that a new path forward was necessary to restore glory to the Orange and Blue.
And that is exactly what Napier’s plan is — to forge a new path that has him and his staff busy for the entire calendar year, regardless of the season. This approach has worked well for some of Florida’s peers such as the Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs, and could end up reaping plenty of benefits for the Gators if everything goes to plan.
