Report: Eagles TE Zach Ertz suffered fractured rib in win over Cowboys

Zach Ertz suffered fractured rib in win over Cowboys

The news is starting to trickle in on Zach Ertz and Philadelphia may be forced to secure the NFC East crown without the services of one of the games’ top tight ends.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media is reporting that Ertz suffered a cracked rib on a hit trying to grab a high pass from Carson Wentz.

Ertz caught 9 passes for 91 yards and two touchdowns in the first meeting, but with a potential Wild Card game at home looming, the Eagles may choose to rely on Dallas Goedert against the Giants, allowing their tight end 8 days of rest.

The Eagles are expected to be without Ronald Darby for a few weeks as well, with the cornerback re-injuring his hip flexor against the Cowboys.

The Philadelphia Eagles may have a decision to make in regard to resting tight end Zach Ertz against the Giants while risking playing a must-win game without the NFC’s top tight end.

Eagles’ head coach Doug Pederson met with the media on Monday morning, and confirmed that Ertz is dealing with a rib injury that has been “affected”.

Ertz is the Eagles’ best skill player currently and he’ll likely spend the week determining his pain threshold as the team weighs the pros and cons of playing him with a likely home playoff game looming two weeks from now.
