Dylan Jacobs claims national, SEC weekly honors

Tennessee graduate student earns national and SEC weekly honors.

Tennessee graduate student and distance specialist Dylan Jacobs won two weekly awards Tuesday.

Jacobs, who transferred from Notre Dame, was named United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association M-F Athletic NCAA Division I Men’s National Athlete of the Week.

He was also named SEC Men’s Co-Runner of the Week after finishing with the second-fastest indoor time in the 3,000-meter run in history at the 115th Millrose Games in New York, New York.

He crossed the finish line of Saturday’s race in 7 minutes, 36.89 seconds against an elite field of Olympians and World Championship qualifiers.

Jacobs’ time in New York was 0.47 seconds short of the all-time record in  the event.
