Prediction

Yankees 9, Blue Jays 8

Money line (ML)

The YANKEES (-139) outscored the Blue Jays (+125) 43-15 in a three-game sweep last week at Yankee Stadium. Toronto took two of three in the previous series in Buffalo, but that was against a depleted Yankees lineup and the Bronx Bombers fully redeemed themselves at full strength in the second meeting.

New York holds a four-game lead on second place in the AL East. It won 10 straight games prior to a 10-2 loss to the Boston Red Sox Sunday. Toronto snapped a six-game losing skid with a 6-3 win over the Philadelphia Phillies Sunday.

Take the YANKEES (-139).

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

Get some insurance in what should be a high-scoring game with the BLUE JAYS +1.5 (-121) on the run line. Neither starter should go much more than 4 or 5 innings Monday. The two bullpens are both middle-third units in MLB with ERAs above 4.30.

Over/Under (O/U)

What seems to be the safest play in this contest is the OVER 11 (-110) on the highest projected total of Monday’s baseball slate.

The head-to-head season series is 4-2 against the Over/Under.

New York Yankees at Toronto Blue Jays odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Wednesday’s New York Yankees at Toronto Blue Jays sports betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and best bets.

The New York Yankees (21-21) try to avoid a three-game series sweep at the hands of the AL East-rival Toronto Blue Jays (24-18) Wednesday at Sahlen Field in Buffalo (Toronto’s 2020 home park). First pitch is set for 6:37 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Yankees-Blue Jays MLB betting odds and lines, with picks and best bets.

The Jays have taken a three-game lead on the Yankees for second place in the division by winning the first two games of the series.

Yankees at Blue Jays: Projected starting pitchers

RHP Deivi Garcia vs. RHP Tanner Roark

Garcia: 0-1, 3.38 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, 2 starts, 10.1 K/9, 1.7 BB/9, 10 2/3 IP

  • Making just his third MLB start after debuting Aug. 30 in a Yankees win over the New York Mets.
  • Went six scoreless innings in his first start and threw 95 pitches last time out with 4 earned runs allowed over 4 2/3 innings against the Baltimore Orioles.

Prediction

Yankees 5, Blue Jays 2

Moneyline (ML)

Injuries are still an obvious issue for the YANKEES (-143), but they’ll have the starting pitching advantage for the first time in the series Wednesday. Garcia entered the season as the Yankees’ No. 3 prospect.

Roark has benefited from plenty of run support to help the Jays (+130) win when he’s on the mound, but the additions of Hernandez and Tellez to the injury pile lessen the chances of him being bailed out again.

The Toronto bullpen has been one of MLB’s top relief units this season, ranking fourth with a 3.21 group ERA. New York should be able to do enough against Roark to put this one away early and salvage a win.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

Get better value with the YANKEES -1.5 (+100) on the run line, where they’ll need to win by at least 2 runs. They haven’t won by multiple runs since Sept. 1 (a span of eight games), but Roark will help change that.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 10 (-110) is the play in the third and final game of this series. Tuesday’s 2-1 win for the Jays saw Toronto held scoreless over its final six half innings at the plate. Garcia can give the Yankees’ troublesome bullpen a bit of a rest day.

New York Yankees at Toronto Blue Jays odds, picks and best bets

The New York Yankees (21-20) and Toronto Blue Jays (23-18) play the middle installment of a three-game series at the Blue Jays’ 2020 home site of Sahlen Field in Buffalo Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:37 p.m. ET, following the Jays’ 12-7 victory in Monday’s series opener. Below, we analyze the Yankees-Blue Jays MLB betting odds and lines, with picks and best bets.

Yankees at Blue Jays: Projected starting pitchers

LHP J.A. Happ vs. RHP Taijuan Walker

Happ: 1-1, 4.68 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, 5.4 K/9, 4.0 BB/9, 25 IP, 5 starts

  • Striking out a career-low 5.4 batters per nine innings with his highest walk rate since 2013 with the Blue Jays.
  • Went 1-2 with a 4.37 ERA in 4 starts against his former team last season.

Walker (with Jays and Seattle Mariners): 3-2, 3.26 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 7.7 K/9, 2.8 BB/9, 38 2/3 IP, 7 starts

  • Has completed 11 2/3 innings with just 2 earned runs allowed in 2 starts since being acquired by Toronto ahead of MLB’s trade deadline.

Yankees at Blue Jays: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 9:10 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Blue Jays 6, Yankees 4

Moneyline (ML)

The BLUE JAYS (-115) are the pick again for Game 2 following Monday’s impressive 5-run margin of victory. Toronto has another advantage in the starting pitching matchup with Walker making his third start since being acquired. The Yankees (+105) are slight underdogs with the struggling Happ on the hill.

The Jays rang up 10 runs (9 earned) against Yankees RPs Chad Green and Adam Ottavino in the sixth inning Monday to erase a 6-2 deficit. The New York bats got to Blue Jays SP Hyun-Jin Ryu for 5 earned runs over 5 innings Monday, but were able to add just two runs against a Toronto bullpen ranked eighth in baseball with a 3.95 group ERA.

It was the first meeting of the season between the two as the Jays extended their lead on second place in the AL East, despite placing home run-leader Hernandez on the injured list.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

Double dip with the BLUE JAYS -1.5 (+165) on the alternate run line, where they’ll need to win by 2 or more runs for a bet to cash. The Yankees have dropped seven of their last nine games with all seven losses decided by a margin of two or more runs.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the UNDER 10.5 (-110) on a number inflated by Monday’s robust total of 19 runs. It was Toronto’s third straight game playing into a double-digit run total, but the offense is overachieving based on current injuries.
