Texas WR Xavier Worthy wants to prove the Longhorns are for real

“We want to show the country what we have going on at Texas.”

Xavier Worthy is on a mission to prove Texas is heading in the right direction. He had the following to say about the momentum a win over Washington would bring.

I feel like this game is a stepping stone to what we’re going to do next year. I feel like this is going to show the country what we have going on at Texas.

Earlier on Tuesday some speculated that a neutral answer to the question of his return meant that Worthy would not return to Texas. The above quote doesn’t sound like something a portal-bound player would utter.

For now, it appears Worthy is bought into all the goals Steve Sarkisian and his team have on the horizon. A win over the talented Washington Huskies would be a strong springboard into 2023 but it won’t come easy.

Washington quarterback Michael Penix is now second in the nation in passing yards (4,354). The Longhorns could be in for a high scoring track meet, but Worthy will have a chance to be the difference maker to close the season.

Looking at Texas WR Xavier Worthy’s best plays wearing No. 8

Xavier Worthy looks sharp in No. 1. Here’s what he did wearing No. 8.

Xavier Worthy is showing out in a new uniform number in bowl practices. The talented receiver will now make No. 1 perhaps the most popular number on the Forty Acres.

Worthy has had a good showing in 2022. The season saw him catch 53 passes for 676 yards and 9 touchdowns. Those numbers were impressive given increased attention after a strong freshman campaign. Adding to the degree of difficulty, Worthy overcame struggles from the quarterback position.

The elite receiver will get a fresh start in a new uniform number, and reportedly is getting more of the quarterback play we hoped from Quinn Ewers in bowl practices.

If Ewers can make a second-year leap similar to Sam Ehlinger in his sophomore season, Worthy should put up Biletnikoff Award level production in 2023.

Here are some of the best plays Worthy made wearing No. 8.

Taking an early look at Texas vs TCU

Texas will need all the noise it can get from the home crowd against TCU.

The Texas Longhorns and TCU Horned Frogs will meet in Week 11. The game will have huge conference title implications.

TCU can effectively secure the No. 1 seed in the Big 12 with a win. With only three games remaining, the Horned Frogs would have to lose to Baylor and Kansas to lose the top ranking in the league.

In addition, Baylor would have to defeat K-State, TCU and Texas to take the top spot. With two losses already and shaky defensive play, it’s difficult to see the Bears winning all three of their remaining games.

Texas has a chance to inch closer to a conference title spot. A home loss to the Horned Frogs would all but eliminate the Longhorns, while a win would preserve their tiebreaker over Kansas State.

Let’s take a look at what Texas can look forward to on Saturday.
