Prediction
Raptors 128, Wizards 98
Moneyline (ML)
The Raptors (-556) are back to near full health and are coming off a 130-121 road win over the Oklahoma City Thunder Wednesday. They’re 5-5 across their last 10 games and 14-7 at home for the season. The Wizards (+400) are 4-6 over their last 10 outings and just 5-16 on the road for the season. They lost each of their last two games, including a 115-106 defeat at the Chicago Bulls Wednesday. Toronto beat Washington 122-118 at home Dec. 20.
There’s nothing to like about the chalky moneyline for the Raptors, but there’s also no reason to like the Wizards to pull the upset. AVOID betting this game outright and look to the spread.
Line/Against the Spread (ATS)
The RAPTORS (-10.5, -106) will need to win this game by at least 11 points to cover the spread, and they will. They won by only four points in the last head-to-head meeting, but PF Pascal Siakam, SG Norman Powell and C Marc Gasol are all back in the lineup and fortify the roster.
Toronto is 22-18 against the spread overall and 12-9 at home. Washington is 19-20-1 ATS overall and 10-10-1 on the road.
Over/Under (O/U)
Take the UNDER 229.5 (-115). The season’s first meeting played to a combined point total of 240, but the Raptors have three of their top defenders back in the lineup Friday and they’ll do a much better job of limiting the likes of Wizards SG Bradley Beal, who dropped a game-high 37 points last time out.
The Wizards are still riddled with injuries, and the Raptors will get plenty of theirs on offense, but expect the Wiz to stay below 100.
