Best pics from Badgers’ 35-14 win over Georgia Southern

The Badgers football team hosted Georgia Southern for a non-conference matchup on Saturday at Camp Randall, defeating the Eagles 35-14. Although the score may suggest that Wisconsin ran away with the game from the start, that was not the case.

The score was knotted up at 7-7 going into halftime before the Badgers turned it around after going down 14-7 early in the second half. The best performance of the game was by Wisconsin’s defense, who forced six total turnovers, five interceptions and a fumble.

Offensively, quarterback Tanner Mordecai went 19/30 for 236 passing yards while turning seven carries into 36 rushing yards and two scores on the ground. Running back Braelon Allen produced 94 yards on 12 carries while scoring twice on the ground. His backfield mate Chez Mellusi also added 61 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries.

Badgers QB puts the team on the board first

The Badgers are taking on Georgia Southern at Camp Randall on Saturday and their quarterback Tanner Mordecai ran in the first touchdown of the game with 14:18 left in the second quarter.

The score gave Wisconsin an early 7-0 lead and the rushing score was Mordecai’s first of the young 2023 campaign. The play though, wasn’t easy as the quarterback had to corral an errant snap and improvise to get in the end zone.

With the Badgers fans on the edge of their seat, they were ready to erupt when their first-year signal-caller Mordecai crossed the goal line.

Wisconsin versus Georgia Southern football series history

Badgers are undefeated versus Georgia Southern

The 1-1 Badgers are set to face the 2-0 Georgia Southern Eagles at 11AM on Saturday. It will be the first time that the two teams have ever met.

That being said, Georgia Southern did face Buffalo (who the Badgers beat in their opener) in the Camellia Bowl in December. The Bulls won that game 23-21 over the Eagles.

Considering Wisconsin was able to take care of business against Buffalo, they are expected to do so against Georgia Southern on Saturday. Although that may be the case, the Badgers will have to step up to the plate.

The Eagles have scored 83 combined points (41.5 PPG) over their first two contests and Wisconsin will look to quiet their offense in Week 3.
