Wisconsin makes top four list for 2023 QB Lincoln Kienholz

Badgers make the cut for their top remaining QB target in the 2023 recruiting class:

After offering 2023 quarterback Lincoln Kienholz earlier this month, the three-star signal caller has officially narrowed down his list of schools down to four.ย

Moving forward, the South Dakota native will be focusing on Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming, and North Dakota State. He also held offers from Colorado State, Illinois, Kansas State, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, and several others.ย

Per 247sports, Kienholz is the No. 60 ranked quarterback prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, and the top ranked player in the state of South Dakota. You can watch his highlights here.ย

As a junior, the T.F. Riggs High School standout threw for 3,359 yards and 37 touchdowns with only six interceptions. He also ran for an additional 1,165 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground.ย

Wisconsin showing early interest in 2025 in-state F Davion Hannah

Wisconsin has shown early interest in a 2025 in-state recruit:

BadgersWire was able to confirm the 247Sports report that Wisconsin has in fact expressed interest in 2025 small forward Davion Hannah out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

As a freshman, the 6-foot-5, 165-pound forward averaged 13.6 points and 9.2 rebounds per game playing for the Milwaukee Academy of Science.

The Milwaukee, Wisconsin native is a physical, and versatile forward that can score from all three levels, and play high level defense out on the perimeter or down on the low block.

Hannah shared with BadgersWire that he and the Wisconsin coaching staff are working to set up an unofficial visit to Madison in June.

The young forward is already considered one of the top prospects in whatโ€™s expected to be a deep 2025 in-state recruiting class.

2023 target Nolan Winter gives an update on his Badgers recruitment

A top of the board prospect in the 2023 class gives an update on his Badgers recruitment:

Greg Gard and his coaching staff have had a knack for quickly identifying culture fits that play their specific brand of basketball, and establishing relationships that theyโ€™re able to maintain throughout the entire recruiting process.

One of the prospects Wisconsin was able to identify early in the recruiting process was 2023 three-star forward Nolan Winter out of Lakeville, Minnesota, who Wisconsin offered back in June of 2021.

If Lakeville sounds familiar, itโ€™s because UW has created a bit of a pipeline at Lakeville North High School in recent years โ€“ producing Badger forwardโ€™s Nate Reuvers and Tyler Wahl.

Per 247Sports, Winter is the No. 140 overall prospect in the 2023 class, the No. 23 SF in the country, and the No. 2 player in the state of Minnesota.

The 6-foot-11, 190-pound forward currently holds offers from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Stanford, Xavier, Oregon State, St. Thomas, and Wake Forest.

Additionally, heโ€™s heard from Virginia Tech, UCLA, Illinois, Notre Dame, Virginia, Utah, Creighton, and Oklahoma State.

At the moment, assistant coach Joe Krabbenhoft is acting as the lead recruiter for the stretch forwardโ€™s services. โ€œWe talk very often, and heโ€™s been able to make it to a lot of my games this spring so far,โ€ said Winter. โ€œThe thing that stands out about Wisconsin is how early they started to recruit me, and from that day on weโ€™ve been in constant contact. The staff and I are very comfortable, and we frequently will have calls or shoot texts back and forth. Itโ€™s a great college and program with awesome people controlling it.โ€

โ€œThe staff at Wisconsin sees me in a stretch-four type of role. They often compare me to Jon Leuer back in the day. Someone who can shoot from the outside, along with getting into the paint and using my size to my advantage in multiple ways. I think I could have a big role from the beginningโ€ said Winter.

Along with strong academics, the 6-foot-11 forward is looking for a competitive program with an established culture, winning tradition, and a great relationship with the coaching staff.

When asked if Wisconsin is a serious contender for his services, Winter had this to say:

โ€œFor sure. Wisconsin has, and will be towards the top of my list. Itโ€™s a great college and I have a ton of respect for the school,โ€ Winter told BadgersWire. โ€œThey just got two huge recruits and I feel like if I were to go there, we could all complement each otherโ€™s games really well.โ€

Right now, the talented junior doesnโ€™t have a timeline for his commitment, but it’s worth noting that he’s already taken several visits to Madison.

Itโ€™s easy to see the Minnesota nativeโ€™s potential fit within a program like UW given the success theyโ€™ve had utilizing big men with similar skill-sets.

Winter is an obvious top of the board recruit for Greg Gard and his coaching staff, so this will be an intriguing recruitment to follow moving forward.

Wisconsin basketball’s remaining big board in the 2023 recruiting class

After landing two commitments in the 2023 recruiting class, all attention pivots to these three prospects:

Greg Gard and the Wisconsin menโ€™s basketball program are in a really good spot with the 2023 recruiting class as they enter the July evaluation period.

As it stands, UW has already received verbal commitments from three-star combo-guard John Blackwell, and four-star center Gus Yalden โ€“ giving coach Gard a really solid foundation to build on.

Typically speaking, July is when most of the under the radar prospects see their recruitment take off โ€“ making it increasingly difficult for a school like Wisconsin to stay in the mix once the blue bloods come knocking. So, having already sealed the deal on two priority recruits at this point in the cycle is rather impressive.

Wisconsin is expected to take three, possibly even four prospects in the 2023 recruiting cycle. So, having two players already in the fold allows coach Gard the flexibility to put the full-court press on his remaining top of the board recruits.

Here are, in no particular order, the three recruits I expect coach Gard to prioritize in the 2023 recruiting class moving forward:

Wisconsin lands a commitment from 2023 three-star RB Nate White

Wisconsin lands their sixth commitment in the 2023 recruiting class:

Paul Chryst and company are red hot on the recruiting trail, securing their sixth commitment in the 2023 recruiting class from running back Nate White out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.ย

White, the only in-state player with a scholarship offer in 2023, committed to Wisconsin over offers from Iowa State, Kansas, Minnesota, Purdue, Vanderbilt, Northern Illinois, and Western Michigan.ย

Per the 247sports Composite, White is the No. 670 overall prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, the No. 48 RB in the country, and the No. 1 player in the state of Wisconsin.ย

As a junior, the 6-foot, 175-pound RB ran for 1,163 yards and 22 touchdowns while adding an additional 132 yards receiving in just nine games. You can watch his highlights here.

On tape, the things that stand out are White’s speed (4.5 40-yard dash), his agility, and overall elusiveness. The three-star recruit has the makings of a one-cut back who can quickly change direction and be a big play threat for the Badgers.ย

White announced his verbal commitment to the University of Wisconsin via his Twitter account:

Wisconsin lands a commitment from three-star DT Roderick Pierce:

Per 247sports, Pierce is the No. 107 DL in the country, and the No. 23 player in the state of Illinois. You can watch his highlights here.

The Brothers Rice High School standout also held offers from Illinois, Duke, Iowa State, Kansas, Kentucky, Miami (OH), Minnesota, Missouri, Purdue, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, and several others.ย

The 6-foot-3, 290-pound DT is now the third player from Illinois to commit to Wisconsin in the 2023 recruiting cycle, joining Tyler Jansey and Justin Taylor.
