Three Nebraska players enter the transfer portal including four-star 2019 QB

The Huskers lose a trio of players to the transfer portal

As transfer portal season goes into full gear, there has been a ton of turnover in Lincoln, Nebraska. After landing Wisconsin target and USC transfer RB Markese Stepp, Scott Frost and the Huskers have now lost a few key offensive pieces.

WR Kade Warner and OL Will Farniok were expected to see limited playing time with the Huskers, while Luke McCaffrey was heading into another year playing behind Adrian Martinez at QB.

McCaffrey saw the field in 2020, as the Huskers went 1-1 in his two starts. The former four-star recruit in 2019 is likely looking for a place where he can take the reigns under center.

Graham Mertz tops the PFF College QB grades this week

The Badger signal caller is at the top of the list

A Wisconsin QB at the top of a metric designed to grade all power-five QB’s? You do not need to pinch yourself, this is real life. It really happened. After a first half for the ages and for the record books, competing 20 of his 21 passes on the night, and five touchdowns, Pro Football Focus had Mertz at the top of the week eight charts.

Two of the top four QB’s this past week were from the Big Ten, with Mertz being joined by Ohio State QB and Heisman favorite Justin Fields. Mertz and the Badgers will look to ride their momentum in to Lincoln, Nebraska and go 2-0 on the young season next Saturday, while Fields and the Buckeyes face a primetime showdown with Penn State in Happy Valley.
