Braelon Allen will look to match a Jonathan Taylor record this Saturday

Braelon Allen can match a 2018 Jonathan Taylor streak this Saturday

Wisconsin freshman running back Braelon Allen has helped carry the Badgers to six wins in as many tries. Wisconsin (7-3, 5-2 BIG) now sits atop the Big Ten West standings after beginning the season 0-2 in conference play.

The freshman from Fond Du Lac is as big a reason as any for the turnaround,  as he has surpassed the 100-yard rushing mark for six straight games.

The last Badger to have a streak of 100-yard rushing games? You probably would only need one guess. Yes, it was current Indianapolis Colts star Jonathan Taylor, who opened the 2018 season with seven straight 100-yard games.

If Allen gets to the 100-yard mark against Nebraska, he would tie Taylor’s 100-yard streak.

For Wisconsin freshman, it’s an even rarer feet. Allen is the first Badger freshman to have six 100-yard rushing games in a season, let alone in a row, since Anthony Davis did it in 2001.

Wisconsin football adds a preferred walk-on DE to their 2021 class

The Badgers land a 2021 PWO from Minnesota

The Wisconsin football class of 2021 family got a little bigger this afternoon. After all 21 commits signed on early signing day, the Badgers have added depth at DE in the form of a preferred walk-on.

Wisconsin landed a commitment from Minnesota high school product Garrison Solliday, who comes to UW by way of St. Thomas Academy. Solliday announced his commitment on Twitter this afternoon:

The 6-foot 220-pound DE is listed as running a pacy 4.6 40-yard dash and has played primarily as a middle linebacker according to NCSAsports.org.

He is someone who has put in the work and finally achieved a lifelong dream. Here is Solliday in his own words from his personal statement on NCSA sports’ website:

“For many years I have had the goal of playing collegiate football at the division 1 level. My goal would be to play as a linebacker but I understand putting team goals before myself, as I have played defensive line and other positions for the last two years. I am undoubtably a hard worker on the field as well as off the field in my studies and work habits.”

The Badgers sound like they are landing a player who is ready to do whatever it takes to help this team win games.

Wisconsin offers a top 2023 DB from Arizona

The Badgers offer a top 2023 DB from the Grand Canyon state

The Badgers are looking out west early in the 2023 class. After securing 2020 signee LB Malik Reed from the Grand Canyon state, Wisconsin is once again journeying to Arizona and offering top talent.

Wisconsin extended on offer to class of 2023 CB Cole Martin, who is already seen as a top defensive back in the group.

In talking to Rivals USC analyst Alec Simpson, who covered Arizona high school football all of last year for the Rivals network, he raved about the young CB’s physicality when breaking down his film:

“Martin is one of the top defensive backs in the Grand Canyon State regardless of class,” said Simpson. “At 5-10 175 pounds, he brings solid size to the table as he’s only heading into his sophomore year. As a freshman on varsity, he amassed 38 total tackles, 2 int (one of which was returned for a touchdown from 78 yards out), 1 fumble recovery, and 5 passes deflected. Martin is a really instinctive defensive back and does a nice job of tracking the football in space. This is the type of defensive back that will break on the football with no false steps. He isn’t afraid to get physical with his opponents and make his presence felt on the gridiron. Martin also brings explosive speed to the table that makes him a solid weapon in the return game. Martins’ recruitment still has a ways to go, but expect him to be one of the top 2023 defensive backs nationally with early offers from the likes of LSU, Oregon, and USC to name a few.”

Currently, Martin holds offers from the likes of Arizona State, Arkansas, and Florida State among other top power five programs. He is the second CB offered by the Badgers in the class of 2023, alongside Florida native Sharif Denson.
