Winnipeg Jets at Vancouver Canucks odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Winnipeg Jets at Vancouver Canucks odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Winnipeg Jets (9-3-4) visit the Vancouver Canucks (5-10-2) Friday at Rogers Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Jets vs. Canucks odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Jets were dumped 2-1 in a shootout Thursday at the Edmonton Oilers, and now have the quick turnaround with the back-to-back. Winnipeg lost its only back end of a back-to-back this season 2-0 against the New York Islanders Nov. 6.

The Canucks lost for the fifth straight game (0-4-1) when they last played Wednesday. Vancouver has been outscored 23-8 over the four regulation losses, with G Thatcher Demko between the pipes for three of the defeats.

Jets at Canucks projected goalies

Eric Comrie (3-1-0, 1.98 GAA, .926 SV%) vs. Thatcher Demko (5-7-1, 3.31 GAA, .898 SV%)

The Jets are likely to tab Comrie after Connor Hellebuyck started against the Oilers Thursday. He allowed two goals on 31 shots in a 2-0 loss to the Islanders in his last outing in the back end of the Jets’ previous back-to-back situation.

The Canucks are giving Demko a chance to iron out his issues, as he has dropped three straight, allowing 16 goals on just 94 shots. He is 2-4-0 with a 4.26 GAA and .863 SV% across six starts in November.

Jets at Canucks odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Jets 5, Canucks 2

Money line

The JETS (-110) are playing on no rest, so there is a concern there, but they should be buzzing and able to generate offense against the skidding Demko. He has been very giving of late.

Against the spread

The JETS -1.5 (+195) are a worth a shot on the puck line for a chance to nearly double up. Demko has yielded 5.33 goals per game across his past three outings, so if Winnipeg has any energy in those legs after a tough shootout loss last night it should be able to get to him. The only concern is tired legs, not the opposing goalie.

Over/Under

The OVER 5.5 (-125) is the play, but again, the concern is the second end of a back-to-back. The Jets were blanked when they faced this situation before. That was also against a good Islanders team, not one of the most inconsistent teams in the league with a very giving goalie. It should be different this time around, so look for at least six total goals.

Winnipeg Jets at Vancouver Canucks odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Winnipeg Jets at Vancouver Canucks NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Winnipeg Jets (19-11-2) wrap up a two-game set Wednesday against the Vancouver Canucks (16-17-3) with a 10:30 p.m. ET puck drop at Rogers Arena. Below, we analyze the Jets-Canucks odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

Jets at Canucks: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 11:15 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Jets -155 (bet $155 to win $100) | Canucks +130 (bet $100 to win $130)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Jets -1.5 (+170) | Canucks +1.5 (-200)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Jets at Canucks: Projected starting goalies

Connor Hellebuyck (14-9-2, 2.72 GAA, .913 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Thatcher Demko (12-11-1, 2.72 GAA, .919 SV%, 1 SO)

Hellebuyck stopped 22 shots in Vancouver Monday for his first shutout of the season. He has alternated wins and losses over his last four starts, and he hasn’t won consecutive outings since a three-game win streak from Feb. 21-27. He kicked off that win streak with a 4-3 overtime win on the road in Vancouver.

Demko was on the short end of the 4-0 loss Monday, as his offense could not solve Hellebuyck. The loss snapped a four-game win streak which saw him allow a total of 7 goals. He allowed just 1 goal on 30 shots in a hard-luck loss to the Jets Feb. 19, while blanking Winnipeg on the road March 1. He is 2-2-0 in four games against the Jets this season.

Jets at Canucks: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Canucks 3, Jets 2

Money line (ML)

The CANUCKS (+130) are a solid value on home ice, as Hellebuyck hasn’t been able to string together a win streak in a calendar month.

Vancouver has won seven of its last 10 games overall. Even though the series trends point to the Jets, as they have won seven straight trips to Vancouver, recent team trends say otherwise. The Jets just cannot piece together a win streak.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The CANUCKS +1.5 (-200) are a little more expensive than I am comfortable with wagering, but for a little insurance, it’s not a bad play for a small-unit bet.

Five of the past six outings for Vancouver have been one-goal games, so if you’re not feeling the Canucks straight up, this is still a good play.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 6 (-110) is the best play in this game. The Under is 8-1-1 across the past 10 for Vancouver, thanks in large part to the solid play of Demko.

While the Over was on an 8-0 run for the Jets from March 2-17, the Under is 2-0-1 in their past three games. The Under is also 4-2 in the six meetings in the season series.

Winnipeg Jets at Vancouver Canucks odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Sunday’s Winnipeg Jets at Vancouver Canucks NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Winnipeg Jets (10-6-1) travel to meet the Vancouver Canucks (8-12-1) on Sunday for a 10 p.m. ET puck drop at Rogers Arena in Vancouver. Below we analyze the Jets-Canucks NHL odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Jets at Canucks: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 3:10 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Jets -105 (bet $105 to win $100) | Canucks -110 (bet $110 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Jets +1.5 (-275) | Canucks -1.5 (+225)
  • Over/Under: 6.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Jets at Canucks: Projected starting goalies

Connor Hellebuyck (7-5-1, 2.61 GAA, .916 SV%) at Thatcher Demko (4-7-1, 3.31 GAA, .901 SV%)

Hellebuyck is confirmed for Sunday’s start, and he’ll look to get it right in his second time facing Vancouver. In a game at MTS Bell Centre Jan. 30, he coughed up three goals on 38 shots in a 4-1 loss. Hellebuyck has alternated wins and losses in regulation across his past six starts dating back to Feb. 4, and he lost last time out in Edmonton Wednesday. That might be a good sign heading into this one if the trend continues.

Demko is projected as Vancouver’s backstop. He was on the short end of a 2-0 shutout against the Jets on Friday, but he acquitted himself well, allowing just one goal on 30 shots. And he was on the opposite end of that Jan. 30 game in Winnipeg, turning aside 23 of the 24 shots he faced in a win head-to-head with Hellebuyck.

Jets at Canucks: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Jets 3, Canucks 1

Money line (ML)

The JETS (-105) are slight underdogs on the road against the Canucks (-110), and the difference might just be goaltending. Laurent Brossoit shut down the Vancouver offense in Friday’s 2-0 win by the Jets, and now Hellebuyck will get his shot. The goaltending for Winnipeg has just been more consistent overall than the combination of Demko and Braden Holtby in Vancouver.

In addition, the Jets have won five straight meetings in this series, and 16 of the past 21 overall in this series.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The Jets +1.5 (-275) are worth playing on the money line, but AVOID them on the puck line. Laying nearly three times your potential return just for a little insurance is foolish.

Over/Under (O/U)

The lean is to the UNDER 5.5 (-110), despite the fact these teams have some high-octane offenses. Still, Hellebuyck should be able to hold the Canucks in check just like Brossoit did in the two-game set opener. And when the Under cashed Friday, that was the fifth consecutive time the Under has cashed in this series.

Winnipeg Jets at Vancouver Canucks odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s Winnipeg Jets at Vancouver Canucks NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Winnipeg Jets (9-6-1) visit the Vancouver Canucks (8-11-1) Friday for a 10 p.m. ET puck drop. Below we analyze the Jets-Canucks NHL odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Jets at Canucks: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 4:39 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Jets -105 (bet $105 to win $100) | Canucks -110 (bet $110 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Jets +1.5 (-275) | Canucks -1.5 (+225)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: -120 | U: +100)

Jets at Canucks: Projected starting goalies

Connor Hellebuyck (7-5-1, 2.61 GAA, .916 SV%) at Thatcher Demko (4-6-1, 3.52 GAA, .895 SV%)

Hellebuyck looks to bounce back after a 3-2 loss at the Edmonton Oilers Wednesday. He made 27 saves on 30 shots, which was better than his previous outing Monday in Edmonton when he allowed five goals on 45 shots. He last faced the Canucks Jan. 30 when he allowed three goals on 38 shots in a 4-1 loss at home.

Demko was tripped up in overtime Monday against the Calgary Flames, allowing four goals on 27 shots, and he has lost four of his five outings in February. The good news is the last time he faced the Jets in Winnipeg Jan. 30, he allowed just one goal on 24 shots in a rare win for the Canucks at MTS Bell Centre.

Jets at Canucks: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Canucks 4, Jets 2

Money line (ML)

The CANUCKS (-110) were roughed up on their recent six-game road trip to Winnipeg, Toronto and Montreal, winning just once. The good news is that Vancouver’s only win on the trip came against the Jets, 4-1 Jan. 30.

While the Jets are 4-0 in the past four meetings in Vancouver, and 14-2 in the past 16 meetings, the home team has cashed in 15 of the past 22 meetings, and the favorite is 20-6 in the past 26 in the series.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The CANUCKS -1.5 (+225) are a tempting play for a chance to more than double up your initial stake. Each of Vancouver’s past six victories have been by two or more goals, with five of the wins by three or more goals. If you like Vancouver to win, you should like them on the puck line, too.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Over/Under 6 (-110) is likely to be a push in this one, just like Vancouver pushed last time out against the total. If there is a lean, it’s to the Under, which has cashed in each of the past four in this series.

The best bet is to just to AVOID completely.
