Raiders send LB Jayon Brown to injured reserve, sign 2 to practice squad

Jayon Brown’s season is over as he heads to IR. Raiders also add two to the practice squad

With Divine Deablo sent to injured reserve last month, Jayon Brown had seen four starts for the Raiders. That was until he suffered a hand injury in the win over the Chargers and missed last Thursday’s game against the Rams.

Today the Raiders shut down Brown for the season, sending him to injured reserve. This is the third season in a row for Brown that he’s been sent to IR as the Titans placed him on IR in each of the past two seasons.

Brown’s place on the roster was filled by the addition of G Netane Muti from the Broncos practice squad.

They had a couple spots available on the practice squad in part from signing Hroniss Grasu to the active roster.

Brown to IR and Grasu to the active roster meant linebacker and center were in need of bodies, so the team added LB Kana’i Mauga and C/G Willie Wright to the practice squad.

Mauga is an undrafted rookie out of USC. He originally signed with the Broncos in 2022 and has spent time on their practice squad.

Wright has spent time on the practice squads for the Browns (2019) and Falcons (2020) during his career and spent last offseason with the Titans. He went undrafted out of Tulsa in 2019.

Titans place Daniel Munyer on IR among 4 moves

The Titans made four roster moves on Wednesday.

The Tennessee Titans made four roster moves during their off day from training camp on Wednesday.

The team announced it has placed backup center Daniel Munyer on Injured Reserve and waived cornerback Chris Williamson with an injury designation after both players suffered undisclosed injuries during Tuesday’s practice.

In corresponding moves, the Titans inked offensive lineman Willie Wright and former USFL defensive back Terrell Bonds, who also played at Tennessee State.

Wright, who can play both guard and center, went undrafted out of Tulsa in 2019 and has spent time with the Cleveland Browns, Atlanta Falcons and Chicago Bears, but has never played in a regular season game.

Bonds has spent time with both the Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins during his NFL career, appearing in four games for the former in 2020.

He then went on to play for the Pittsburgh Maulers of the USFL in 2021, playing in 10 games and totaling 18 tackles and one interception.

Both Wright and Bonds will have an uphill climb in making the roster.

Report: Tennessee Titans signing OL Willie Wright

The Titans are reportedly adding offensive lineman Willie Wright.

The Tennessee Titans are reportedly signing an offensive lineman to their offseason roster.

According to Joe Rexrode of The Athletic, Tennessee is signing interior offensive lineman Willie Wright. The financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.

Wright has experience playing at both guard and center. It isn’t clear whose spot he’s going to take at the moment, but backup center Daniel Munyer did suffer an injury during Tuesday’s practice.

After going undrafted out of Tulsa, Wright, 26, has had a cup of coffee with the Cleveland Browns, Atlanta Falcons and Chicago Bears but has never played in a regular season game.

In our latest 53-man projection, we have Nate Davis and Aaron Brewer manning the starting guard spots, and Jamarco Jones and Corey Levin serving as backups on the interior.

We’d be surprised if Wright supplants either of the backup options, making it likely his best bet to stick in Nashville will come via the practice squad.

Falcons activate DE Steven Means, cut LB Deone Bucannon

When the Falcons announced their 53-man roster for the 2020 season, it came the caveat that defensive end Steven Means would soon be activated from the NFL’s reserve/COVID-19 list.

When the Falcons announced their 53-man roster for the 2020 season, it came the caveat that defensive end Steven Means would soon be activated from the NFL’s reserve/COVID-19 list.

On Tuesday, the team released linebacker Deone Bucannon to make room for Means on the active roster just days away from Atlanta’s home-opener against the Seahawks.

Bucannon, a former first-round pick back in 2014, signed in the offseason to give the add depth at the linebacker position. He was listed as Atlanta’s fifth linebacker on the depth chart that the team released Monday.

The Falcons made another move on Tuesday, signing OL Willie Wright to the practice squad, leaving one more spot for the team to add another player.
