Texas at West Virginia: Three things to know

  1. The Longhorns have rattled off five straight victories since their lone loss of the season against Villanova on Dec. 6, but they have covered just once in the past four games. They have been a favorite of total bettors at the window, hitting three consecutive Overs.
  2. West Virginia split a pair of games in the Sooner State, losing 75-71 at Oklahoma on Jan. 2 before bouncing back with an 87-84 victory at Oklahoma State, hitting the Over in each of the outings.
  3. The Mountaineers covered their last time out, but haven’t been able to string together consecutive covers since a 3-0 ATS run from Nov. 26-Dec. 2. The Mountaineers have been rather inconsistent shooting the ball, hitting just 41.8 percent of their field-goal attempts, which ranks 268th in the country.

Texas at West Virginia: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Texas 77, West Virginia 66

Money line (ML)

TEXAS (+100) is a huge value on the road at even-money, as West Virginia (-120) has just been too inconsistent from the field, and they’re not a very good team from long distance, either.

Against the spread (ATS)

TEXAS +2.5 (-115) is a better value straight up, but if you want a little insurance, and think West Virginia -2.5 (-105) might win by one or two, then knock yourself out and take the ‘Horns with the bucket and a hook. The Mountaineers are just 3-3 ATS in the past six as a favorite, and 2-2 ATS at home this season. Texas is 2-1 SU/ATS as an underdog in 2020-21.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 139.5 (-110) is the lean, as both sides have been trending to the high side in recent weeks. If it makes you feel even better, the Over is 5-0 in West Virginia’s past five games vs. teams with a winning percentage over .600.

And for what it’s worth, Texas has hit the Over in each of its past five Saturday games. More importantly, though, the Over is 3-0 in the past three games overall for Texas.

Kansas State at West Virginia odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Kansas State Wildcats at West Virginia Mountaineers sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Kansas State Wildcats (4-1, 4-0 Big 12) and West Virginia Mountaineers (3-2, 2-2) meet Saturday at Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium in Morgantown, W.Va., for a noon ET kickoff. Below, we analyze the Kansas State-West Virginia college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Wildcats are No. 16 in the Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Kansas State at West Virginia: Betting odds and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Tuesday at 5:47 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Kansas State +150 (bet $100 to win $150) | West Virginia -182 (bet $182 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Kansas State +3.5 (-106) | West Virginia -3.5 (-115)
  • Over/Under: 47.5 (O: -106 | U: -115)

Kansas State at West Virginia: Three things to know

  1. Kansas State opened its season in Manhattan, Kan., with a 35-31 setback against Arkansas State of the Sun Belt, and it looked like it might be a disappointing season. However, K-State bounced back with a 38-35 upset at Oklahoma to kick off a four-game win and cover streak, including a 55-14 rout of rival Kansas last week.
  2. K-State is 3-0 SU/ATS in three games as an underdog this season. While West Virginia is 3-2 SU/ATS overall, it’s a perfect 3-0 SU/ATS in three games in Morgantown, W.Va.
  3. The Under has connected in each of the past eight meetings between K-State and West Virginia, and is 4-0 in the previous four at Milan Puskar Stadium.

Kansas State at West Virginia: Odds, prediction, betting lines and picks

Prediction

West Virginia 27, Kansas State 24

Money line (ML)

West Virginia (-182) has given K-State (+150) fits over the years, including a 24-20 win in Manhattan as a 14-point underdog. However, laying nearly two times your potential return is just a little too much for me. AVOID and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread (ATS)

KANSAS STATE (+3.5, -106) is a decent play, mostly because of the hook. I expect a close game with West Virginia (-3.5, -115) coming out on top. The Wildcats have dropped four in a row to the Mountaineers, last winning outright Dec. 5, 2015.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 47.5 (-106) is the play as we’ll see more than 50 points in this one. The Over hit last time for each of these sides, and the Over is 3-2 for each school. The Mountaineers are averaging 32.5 PPG in two games against FBS opponents at home, and the Wildcats are posting 29.5 PPG in two games on the road.

West Virginia at Texas Tech odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s West Virginia Mountaineers at Texas Tech Red Raiders sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The West Virginia Mountaineers (3-1) and Texas Tech Red Raiders (1-3) face off in a Big 12 matchup Saturday at Jones AT&T Stadium at 5:30 p.m. E.T. We analyze the West Virginia-Texas Tech college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

West Virginia at Texas Tech: Betting odds and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Friday at 3:20 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: West Virginia -134 (bet $134, win $100) | Texas Tech +110 (bet $100, win $110)
  • Against the spread/ATS: West Virginia -2.5 (-115) | Texas Tech +2.5 (-106)
  • Over/Under: 54.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

West Virginia at Texas Tech: Three things to know

  1. Both teams have been fantastic on offense this season, averaging over 31 points per game. These offenses can score in a hurry as each side has no problem throwing the ball 40 to 50 times per game.
  2. While the sample size is small, West Virginia’s defense has been fantastic. The Mountaineers are allowing fewer than 19 points per game and giving up under four yards per carry.
  3. Texas Tech has really struggled inside the conference, losing six straight games in the Big 12 going back to last year. The Red Raiders also lost five of their last six games to West Virginia.

West Virginia at Texas Tech: Odds, prediction, betting lines and picks

Prediction

West Virginia 33, Texas Tech 27

Money line (ML)

WEST VIRGINIA (-134) is a slight money line favorite Saturday afternoon. West Virginia has won four of its last five games with impressive wins over Kansas and Baylor. Meanwhile, the only win of the season for Texas Tech has come against Houston Baptist and that was only a 2-point victory for the Red Raiders.

Expect this game to be close, but for the Mountaineers to win.

Against the spread (ATS)

WEST VIRGINIA -2.5 (-115) opens this game as more than a field-goal favorite over Texas Tech on the road. Texas Tech has really struggled against the spread, failing to cover in five of its last six games. West Virginia has been up and down against the spread lately, but the Mountaineers are the better team in this one. They should be able to score into the mid-30s and win this game by a touchdown.

Over/Under (O/U)

The total for this Big 12 matchup is set at 54.5 points. While West Virginia’s defense has played well this season, it hasn’t faced many top offenses. Both squads can score easily into the 30s and it wouldn’t be a surprise if that’s the type of game we see here. Look for the OVER 54.5 (-110) to hit with relative ease as both teams will want to throw early and often.
