We all know how much the Pittsburgh Steelers love having players who are either related to each other or legacies of former players. Last season the Steelers had the Heyward brothers and the Watt brothers on the roster.

This season there is only one Watt currently on the team with T.J. but could that change? Pittsburgh seems to be in no rush to bring back fullback Derek Watt but it may not matter. The rumor and speculation everyone wants to talk about is the idea of recently-retired defensive end J.J. Watt coming out of retirement to play for the Steelers.

The entire idea feels very far-fetched but as with any rumor, there are those to really attach themselves to it. So this is why we are going to ask the question.

WATCH: Steelers LB T.J. Watt makes an incredible first-half play vs. Buffalo

The NFL’s highest-paid defensive player is making plays early:

Former Wisconsin Badger LB T.J. Watt is already living up to signing the richest contract for a defensive player in the NFL.

In one of the lone first half highlights for the Pittsburgh Steelers in their season opener against the Buffalo Bills, the 2020 First-Team All-Pro performer chased down Bills QB Josh Allen for a strip sack that was recovered by Pittsburgh.

The Steeler defense has now recorded a sack in an incredible 74 regular season games in a row.

Unfortunately for Watt, the Steelers were unable to capitalize with points and currently trail the Bills 10-0 at the half. He is, however, earning his massive paycheck early in the season:

There’s recovery and then there’s this kind of recovery. If you ever doubted how hardcore the Watt brothers are, these pics should help explain it. Pittsburgh Steelers T.J. Watt and Derek Watt as well as big brother J.J. all shared pics of themselves using a homemade cold tub by carving out a chunk of a frozen lake and sitting in it.

We’ve all done a cold tub as some point or another as part of recovery but I’m not sure how many people outside of the Watts who would opt for a frozen lake instead of a tub of ice.

How the Watt brothers made NFL history on Sunday

The Watt brothers made history on Sunday

The Watt family name has become synonymous with Wisconsin football over the past decade. Yesterday, the three Watt brothers, all of whom played for the Badgers, made NFL history.

The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Houston Texans by a final score of 28-21 in a game that included not one, not two, but all three Watt brothers in the NFL. Texans star DE J.J. Watt, Steelers FB Derek Watt, and Steelers LB T.J. Watt became just the third trio of brothers since 1927 to play in the same NFL game.

It started in the Watt family backyard in Waukesha, Wisconsin, and continued on the Camp Randall field in Madison.

There was even some classic brotherly love going on pregame.

Although the three Watt brothers never played together at Wisconsin, they finally got to take the same field again, this time at the NFL level.

Big men on Steelers’ defense come up with pair of picks

T.J. Watt and Cameron Heyward have added catching the ball as well as sacking QBs to their games.

Cameron Heyward and T.J. Watt are best known for taking down quarterbacks and piling up sacks. In the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 26-16 victory over the New York Giants Monday night, the defensive stalwarts each picked off a Daniel Jones pass.

First. Watt. He fooled the second-year QB and made him pay with a spectacular pick. Wide receivers would be jealous of those hands.

Then, the play that broke the game open and shattered the Giants’ spirit. Big Blue had done a service-academy march down the field and was on its 19th — 19th!!! — play when Jones did the one thing he couldn’t do: Give Bud Dupree credit for the pressure but the Giants’ QB had no business floating that duck.

It wound up in the hands of Heyward, the veteran defensive tackle and any doubt to the result was erased.
