Injury Report: Warriors’ Steph Curry (shoulder) set to have MRI on Thursday

After suffering a shoulder injury against the Pacers on Wednesday, Steph Curry is set for an MRI on Thursday.

After the Golden State Warriors suffered another loss on the road to drop their record away from San Francisco’s Chase Center to 2-13, the headlines from the contest in Indiana are surrounding an injury that happened at the end of the third quarter.

With two minutes remaining in the third quarter, Steph Curry appeared to injure his shoulder against the Indiana Pacers. Curry shortly left the game and returned to the locker room. Following his exit, the eight-time All-Star guard was officially ruled out for the remainder of the game against the Pacers.

Following the game, Steve Kerr announced Curry would have an MRI on Thursday.

Via @CjHolmes22 on Twitter:

Prior to his injury, Curry was carrying the Warriors in Indiana, recording 38 points, sevene assists and seven boards in only 30 minutes.

The Warriors are already missing starting All-Star forward Andrew Wiggins due to injury. Wiggins has missed the last five games due to an adductor strain.

If Curry’s injury causes him to miss time, the Warriors will need to use their depth in the next stop on their six-game road swing. With Wiggins and Klay Thompson out on Wednesday, Steve Kerr opted to start Jordan Poole and Donte DiVincenzo against the Pacers.

The Warriors are slated to meet Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday at 4:30 p.m. PT.

NBA Twitter reacts to Warriors’ comeback falling short vs. Pacers for another road loss

After the Warriors’ comeback fell short against the Pacers for another loss on the road, NBA Twitter chimed in with different reactions.

On the second leg of a road back-to-back, the Golden State Warriors started quick to take an early lead against the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night. However, it didn’t last long.

The Pacers piled together 47 points in the second quarter to take a commanding lead into halftime. However, a heroic effort from Steph Curry helped the Warriors build a comeback attempt in the third quarter.

Yet, with two minutes remaining in the third quarter, Curry exited the game with a shoulder injury. With Curry ruled out for the remainder of the contest, Golden State’s comeback hopes dwindled.

Adding to the Warriors’ shorthanded rotation that was missing Curry, Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green picked up a pair of technicals in the fourth quarter and was ejected with eight minutes remaining in the contest.

Without Golden State’s core, Indiana was able to hold on down the stretch, 125-119. Tyrese Haliburton led the Pacers with 29 points on 9-of-17 shooting from the field with six assists and four rebounds in 34 minutes.

Prior to leaving with an injury, Curry led the game with 38 points on 11-of-19 shooting from the floor with five made triples to go along with seven boards and seven assists.

With another road loss, the Warriors record dropped to 2-13 away from San Francisco’s Chase Center.

After the Warriors’ latest road loss in Indiana, the NBA Twitter community chimed in with different reactions. Here’s a look at what fans and analysts were saying on Wednesday night.

NBA Twitter reacts to Pacers snapping Warriors’ home winning streak on Monday

After the Warriors’ home winning streak came to an end with a loss to the Pacers on Monday, NBA Twitter weighed in with reactions.

Riding a 10-game winning streak at home, the Golden State Warriors hosted the Indiana Pacers at Chase Center on Monday night with the chance to extend their run in San Francisco.

Even without Tyrese Haliburton and Myles Turner on the second leg of a road back-to-back, the Pacers didn’t make it easy on the Warriors. Indiana landed an early haymaker, taking a 13-point lead in the first quarter.

Despite a comeback effort from Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole that made the game tight down the stretch, the Warriors had no answer for rookie guard Andrew Nembhard.

The former Gonzaga player tallied a career-high 31 points on 13-of-21 shooting from the field to go along with 13 assists and eight boards in place of Haliburton in the starting lineup. Nembhard notched 10 of his points in the fourth quarter to snap the defending champs’ 10-game home streak, 112-104.

Thompson led the Warriors with 28 points on 9-of-23 shooting from the field with eight made 3s, four assists and two boards in 37 minutes.

Steph Curry was uncharacteristically quiet against the Pacers, recording only 12 points on 3-of-17 shooting from the field and 2-of-10 from deep with six assists and four boards in 38 minutes.

Following the Warriors’ loss to the Pacers, the NBA community on Twitter weighed in with reactions. Here’s a look at what fans and analysts were saying on social media on Monday night.

Steve Kerr shoulders blame for Warriors’ upset loss to shorthanded Pacers at home

After the Warriors fell to the shorthanded Pacers at home in overtime on Thursday, Steve Kerr shouldered the blame.

Despite being down Domantas Sabonis, Myles Turner, Malcolm Brogdon and Caris LeVert on the second leg of a road back-to-back, the underdog Indiana Pacers showed up to play against the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center on Thursday night.

After falling down by eight at halftime, the Pacers fought back into the game in the second half. Chris Duarte and Keifer Sykes pushed the Pacers to tie the game before the start of the fourth quarter.

In the final frame of regulation, fireworks from Steph Curry gave the Warriors a three-point advantage with under 10 seconds remaining in the contest. With the lead on the final possession, Steve Kerr’s squad made the decision not to foul, giving Indiana the chance to launch a triple before the final buzzer.

That decision cost the Warriors as Justin Holiday pulled up from deep to bury a game-tying triple to push the game into overtime.

Despite multiple late chances of their own during overtime, the Warriors ice-cold offense had no clutch answer for the gritty Pacers. Rick Carlisle’s shorthanded squad served the Warriors a surprise upset loss at home, 121-117.

After the game, Steve Kerr was the first to take the blame for Golden State’s loss to Indiana.

I blame myself number one. I didn’t think I did a good job preparing the team to be ready to play. Anytime a team has half their guys missing, it’s like the same old story in the NBA. All the guys who play can’t wait to get out there. They made 15 threes. They just took it to us all night. I did not do a good job of preparing the group. It was a struggle. We couldn’t really get stops consistently. I give Indiana great credit. Their guys stepped up and made plays – made big shots. We had some huge turnovers in the second half. I think we had 14 in the second half and those really hurt. Just kind of a combination of all that.

Via @NBCSWarriors on Twitter:

When it came to the decision to not foul with a three-point lead before the end of regulation, Kerr shouldered the blame for that too.

As far as the 3-point shot that tied it, yeah, I’m normally a fouler. I take the hit on that one too. So, this was my night to stink it up.

Curry led the way for the Warriors with a game-high 39 points on 12-of-27 shooting from the field in 44 minutes, but it wasn’t enough against Indiana. Duarte matched his career-high with 27 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the field. The Pacers rookie added seven boards, three assists and three blocks in 39 minutes.

Kerr and the Warriors won’t have much time to dwell on Thursday’s surprise loss to the Pacers. On Friday, the Warriors will welcome the Houston Rockets to Chase Center for the second leg of a home back-to-back.

NBA Twitter reacts to Warriors’ dropping upset loss vs. shorthanded Pacers in overtime at home

After the Warriors dropped an upset loss to the shorthanded Pacers in overtime at home, NBA Twitter exploded with reactions. Here’s what fans and analysts were saying on Thursday.

On the second-leg of a road back-to-back, the 16-29 Indiana Pacers were down Domantas Sabonis, Myles Turner, Malcolm Brogdon and Caris LeVert against the Golden State Warriors at San Francisco’s Chase Center.

While being down four of their core pieces, it didn’t seem to matter for the Pacers in an underdog performance on Thursday in the Bay Area.

After going up by eight before halftime, the Warriors couldn’t stretch a lead out against the Pacers early in the contest. As Golden State’s offense went quiet, Indiana took advantage to tie the game before the fourth quarter.

Keifer Sykes and the Pacers continued to hang around, matching the Warriors up and down the court in the fourth period. After Steph Curry willed the ice-cold Warriors to a three-point advantage with under 10 seconds remaining in the contest, Justin Holiday drilled a clutch 3-pointer to send the game into overtime after Golden State chose not to foul with the lead.

After the Warriors tallied the first five points in overtime, the Pacers notched 10 unanswered to hold a five-point lead of their own. An Andrew Wiggins alley-oop helped cut the Pacers’ lead to a single possession, but the Warriors couldn’t answer. Curry received an open look from beyond the arc to tie the game, but couldn’t land the jumper.

While the Warriors collected another chance to tie the contest late, an errant pass from Andre Iguodala that landed off the hands of Klay Thompson spoiled a chance at late heroics for Golden State. Despite being shorthanded, the Pacers hung on to hand the Warriors an ugly loss at home, 121-117.

Rookie Chris Duarte led the Pacers with 27 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the floor with seven boards and three assists in 39 minutes. Six other members of the Pacers notched double-figure scoring efforts.

Curry tallied a game-high 39 points on 12-of-27 shooting from the floor with eight assists and five boards in 44 minutes, but it wasn’t enough to carry Golden State on Thursday night.

Curry hit six of the Warriors’ nine 3-pointers on the evening. Thompson, Jordan Poole and Wiggins combined to go 1-of-18 from deep on the night. Cold shooting from long distance paired with 21 turnovers hampered Golden State’s effort to put the gritty Pacers away.

After the Pacers’ upset win in overtime against the Warriors, the NBA community on Twitter exploded with different reactions. Here’s a look at what fans and analysts were saying on Thursday night.

NBA Twitter reacts to Warriors’ clutch victory vs. Pacers, 102-100

Following Kevon Looney’s clutch bucket to help seal the Warriors a win over the Pacers, the NBA community on Twitter chimed in with different reactions. Here’s what fans and analysts were saying on social media.

As the NBA world watched to see if Steph Curry would make history against the Indiana Pacers on Monday night, Kevon Looney stole the show for the Golden State Warriors.

The Warriors center tallied a season-high 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field, including a clutch game-winning bucket with 13 seconds remaining in the contest. Curry and Looney combined for the final seven points to surge past the Pacers in the last minutes, 102-100.

After Looney’s late bucket, fierce defense from Gary Payton II, Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green forced an Indiana turnover to seal the game for Golden State in the final seconds.

While the Warriors improved to 22-5 on the season, Curry will have to wait for another game to surpass Ray Allen as the league’s all-time leader for made 3-pointers.

Curry shot 5-of-15 from beyond the arc on the way to scoring a team-high 26 points. The two-time Most Valuable Player needed just one triple to match Allen and two 3-pointers to sit alone at the top of the leaderboard. With history on the line, the Warriors will travel to Madison Square Garden for a contest against the New York Knicks.

Following the Warriors’ win over the Pacers, the NBA Twitter community weighed in with different reactions on Monday night. Here is a look at what fans and analysts were saying about Curry, Looney and the Warriors on social media.

Advice and prediction

While Curry’s early fireworks have helped push the Warriors to a 21-5 record, their defense has quietly been one of the league’s best units.

To slow down the Pacers and bounce back on Monday, the Warriors will need to count on their defense.

However, the Pacers won’t make it easy. Behind their bigs Domantas Sabonis and Myles Turner, Indiana could try to punish Golden State’s frontcourt of Kevon Looney and Draymond Green. While all eyes could be on Curry from long-distance, the Pacers could force the ball inside to their bigs.

Curry’s recent slump paired with the Pacers old school approach against a stout Golden State defense makes under 214.5 a bet to keep an eye on during Monday’s contest at the fieldhouse in Indiana. However, betting on Curry to stay cold is a risk.

Prediction: Warriors 111, Pacers 99

3 things to know: Draymond Green’s near triple-double and tough defense help Warriors survive vs. Pacers, 111-107

With Steph Curry recording a rare down-shooting night, Draymond Green and Golden State’s defense came in clutch to secure a needed road win against the Indiana Pacers,

With the chance to split a four-game road swing, the Golden State Warriors needed to lean on Steph Curry in the second leg of a back-to-back in Indiana. However, the two-time Most Valuable Player recorded a quiet performance against the Pacers.

Although Curry tallied a team-high 24 points on 7-of-21 from the field, the point guard struggled to get into a rhythm from beyond the arc. Curry uncharacteristically hit only one triple on 11 attempts from long distance.

As Curry registered a rare down-shooting night, the rest of the Warriors followed. The Warriors shot a lowly 5-of-26 from deep against Indiana. Despite low shooting numbers, the Warriors’ defense made an impact led by Draymond Green

The former Defensive Player of the Year stuffed the stat sheet with a near triple-double effort. Green tallied 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field with 11 assists, nine boards, three steals and a block in 36 minutes. With 3:50 remaining in the game and a one-point Golden State lead, Green powered through the lane for a clutch dunk.

Via @warriors on Twitter:

Green’s slam paired with tight defense and a tough rebound set the tone for a late closing run from Golden State to secure the win over Indiana, 111-107.

James Wiseman in foul trouble

After returning from a sprained wrist that sidelined him 11 games, James Wiseman returned to action on Tuesday against the New York Knicks. Following his 14 point effort at Madison Square Garden, the 2020 No. 2 overall draft pick tallied double-figures off the bench in his second consecutive contest.

[lawrence-related id=35114]

The 19-year-old notched 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field with five boards and a steal against the Pacers. However, Wiseman’s performance against Indiana was limited to 18 minutes after the rookie fouled out of the contest.

Wiseman will have the chance to bounce back on Friday in a battle between a pair of 2020 top draft picks with LaMelo Ball and the Hornets visiting Chase Center.

Eric Paschall

With Curry quiet in a choppy Golden State offense, Eric Paschall stepped up off the bench. The second-year forward led the Warriors’ second unit with 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field.

Whenever the offense went cold, or the Warriors needed a score, Paschall seemed to be the player to knock down a timely bucket.

Via @warriors on Twitter:

Paschall tacked on a rebound, block steal and assist in 18 minutes against the Pacers.

Draymond – Curry Connection

In Indiana, the Steph Curry and Draymond Green connection was on full display. In the opening quarter, the former All-Star pairing added another clip to their deep highlight reel.

Coming off a screen from Green, Curry weaved through Indiana’s defense only to whip a pass back to the top of the key for the former Defensive Player of the Year. After barking directions, Green found a relocating Curry for a triple from the corner.
