Gators set up official visit plans with 4-star Louisiana RB

After a weekend visit to check out the Gators during spring practice, four-star cornerback Wardell Mack has plans to return to the Swamp for an official visit.

The Florida Gators hosted John Ehret (Marrero, Louisiana) cornerback Wardell Mack over the final weekend of spring practice, and he left town with plans to return to Gainesville, according to Swamp247.

Mack got to meet with head coach Billy Napier before the end of his trip and set tentative dates of June 16-18 for his official visit to the Swamp.

“I talked with him and we set an official for the third weekend of June 16th-18th,” Mack said. “That will be my first official visit and the only one I got set up. I pretty much saw everything today, but I want to come back and get back on campus.”

Mack is a consensus four-star recruit, ranked as high as No. 26 overall in the class of 2024 by On3. The On3 industry ranking, which considers all four major recruiting services, puts Mack at No. 73 overall and No. 9 among cornerbacks in his class.

He’s also the third-highest-ranked player out of Louisiana, so getting Mack away from LSU will be key. The Tigers have a  reputation for keeping the top in-state talent at home — similar to what Billy Napier is trying to re-establish at Florida —and they are the runaway favorites with 98.2% odds to land Mack.

One thing working in Florida’s favor is defensive backs coach Corey Raymond, who spent over a decade coaching at LSU across two stints. Raymond has a reputation as one of the top position coaches in the country, and the Louisiana ties should keep Florida in play down the stretch.

Blue-chip 2024 cornerback sets April visit date with Gators

The busy month of March will be spilling well into April for Florida football’s recruiting efforts.

March has been rocking and rolling for Florida football’s recruiting efforts as [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag] and Co. roll out the red carpet for the latest visitors to the Swamp. While the end of the dead period at the beginning of the month opened the floodgates for prep prospects to visit campus that wave looks to continue into April as well.

Among those who have set a date to visit the Orange and Blue next month is four-star cornerback [autotag]Wardell Mack[/autotag] out of Marrero (Louisiana) John Ehret in the 2024 cycle. The 6-foot-0.5-inch, 170-pound defensive back recently told On3 recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman that he plans on making a stop in Gainesville on Saturday, April 8.

In addition to Florida — which extended its scholarship offer less than a week ago — Mack also holds offers from the LSU Tigers, Alabama Crimson Tide, Tennessee Volunteers, Oregon Ducks, Texas A&M Aggies, Florida State Seminoles, Texas Longhorns and Ole Miss Rebels, among others. The high school junior has already paid a visit to Baton Rouge and will visit Austin the weekend following his visit with the Gators.

Mack is ranked No. 115 overall and No. 12 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 78 and 7, respectively. LSU currently holds two crystal ball predictions from 247Sports while also dominating On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine with a 98.8% chance of landing him.

Top-100 DB Wardell Mack discusses upcoming LSU visit

The Tigers are the favorite to land the talented 2024 prospect.

[autotag]Wardell Mack[/autotag] is a 6-foot, 170-pound, class of 2024 defensive back from Marrero, Louisiana, where he plays for John Ehret High School. The John Ehret Patriots finished the 2022 season 5-6 with a loss to Archbishop Rummel in the first round of the playoffs.

Mack is currently crystal balled to LSU, and the Tigers are a 99% favorite to land him per On3. Mack recently talked with On3 about his upcoming visits. He is visiting LSU this weekend, and he is getting a lot of love from other SEC schools in Alabama, Ole Miss and Tennessee. Here is what he had to say about visiting LSU.

They want me to come up for their junior day and that’s the only thing I’ve set up so far,” Mack told On3. “They’ve been coming at me hard, especially Coach Sherman Wilson, he’s been pushing really hard.”

The Tigers coaching staff will hope it can convince him to come to play on the Bayou.
