Brock Bowers led the national champions in receiving last season as a freshman. With a year in the system under his belt and quarterback Stetson Bennett back at the helm, Bowers will have an even more important role in the Bulldogs’ attack.

Kelee Ringo put the college football world on notice when he sealed the deal in the national championship with the infamous interception returned for a touchdown. What went unnoticed by many was Ringo’s impact throughout the season as a lockdown cornerback. Also considered an early NFL draft pick next spring, Ringo will be the Bulldogs’ No. 1 coverage man in 2022.

Alabama QB Bryce Young named finalist for Walter Camp Player of the Year

Bryce Young would be the fourth Crimson Tide star to win the award!

Alabama quarterback Bryce Young may only be a first-year starter, but the sophomore from California is playing some solid football. To open the season, he may not have been as poised as those that came before him in recent years, but as the season has progressed, Young was able to show how he’s grown as a player.

Today, the finalists for the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award were announced, and Young made the cut.

The award “is presented annually to the most outstanding player of the year in college football who has exemplified the qualities of self-discipline, unselfish team play, desire to excel, mature judgement and respect for leadership.”

Young has put up some impressive numbers n 2021, tallying 3,901 yards and 40 touchdowns on 68.9% completion while only throwing 4 interceptions.

Only three Alabama players have won the award: Derrick Henry (2015), Tua Tagovailoa (2018) and DeVonta Smith (2020), according to Alabama Football’s official release.

Jonathan Taylor named Walter Camp Player of the Year finalist

Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor was announced on Thursday as one of the five finalists for the Walter Camp Player of the Year award.

The well-deserved accolades have been rolling in for Jonathan Taylor this week.

On Wednesday, the star running back earned consensus First Team All-Big Ten honors and was selected as the conference’s Ameche-Dayne Running Back of the Year. Taylor followed that up on Thursday by being named as one of the five finalists for the Walter Camp Player of the Year award, joining Alan Ameche, Ron Dayne, and Melvin Gordon as the only players to earn that distinction in the history of the program. Dayne took home the award in 1999.

The honor is awarded annually by the nation’s 130 FBS head coaches and sports information directors to college football’s most outstanding player. The other finalists this season are LSU quarterback Joe Burrow, Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields, Oklahoma State running back Chuba Hubbard and Ohio State defensive end Chase Young, with the winner set to be announced next Thursday. Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was named the recipient of the award last year.

This is the second major national award that Tayor has been named a finalist for this season, as he has already made the final cut for the Doak Walker Award as well along with Hubbard and Ohio State’s J.K. Dobbins.

The question on the minds of Wisconsin fans now: will he be invited to New York as a Heisman Trophy finalist?
