We have reached the midpoint of another week and despite another off-day for the Florida Gators football team this weekend, there are a few other UF sports currently in action as the week winds down.
The women’s golf team continued play at The Ally at Old Waverly tournament on Tuesday, dropping from first to seventh in the three-day, SEC-only competition. Sophomore Annabell Fuller paced the Gators after posting her second-straight scorecard under par. The tournament culminates today starting at 10 a.m. EDT.
Also in action today is the Gators volleyball team, who kick off back-to-back road matches at the Auburn Tigers today and continues tomorrow. The squad is only playing in eight games this year against four different SEC schools — all in the same two-day format — due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Friday, both the men’s and women’s tennis teams take the court away from Gainesville, with the former participating in the Gamecock Fall SEC Shootout hosted by South Carolina, while the latter cross the border north to take on the Georgia Bulldogs. This is the second tournament of the year for the men after a strong showing at the Tiger Fall Invitational, while the women finished on a high note in their opening tournament at the SEC Challenge in Tuscaloosa — both earlier this month.
Around the Swamp

- Gators football announced 25 new positive COVID-19 cases in the last week: Since last Tuesday’s COVID-19 testing update, in which the Florida football team reported six positive cases for the month of October, the program announced that there were 25 more positive cases as of Monday.
- Mike Zunino is the lone former Gators representative in the 2020 World Series: Unfortunately, he will not get to play in the biggest games of his career at home in Florida this year due to COVID-19.
- Two Florida Gators make ESPN’s ‘midseason’ awards watch lists: Two Florida Gators juniors received a nod from Connelly and the team earned some recognition, as well.
- Gators in the NFL Week 6: Marcus Maye and Brian Poole lead the way: Now that all of the games are complete, let us take a look at how former Florida Gators fared on the professional circuit, with two New York Jets defensive backs Marcus Maye and Brian Poole leading the way.
It’s great to be a Florida Gator!
