Texas RB commit Rueben Owens announces summer visit plans

Rueben Owens is seen as solid to Texas, the RB is still making unofficial visits this summer. He will step foot on seven different campuses.

Even when prospects are 1000% committed to programs, their recruitments are never over. Especially when no in-person visits have occurred thanks to COVID-19. With the NCAA lifting the dead period, everything in the world of recruiting is about to change.

In the case of Texas, their sole commitment in the ’23 class has been five-star running back Rueben Owens for three months now. He has been a vocal leader early on, developing relationships with some of the best players in the country.

Even though Owens is seen as solid to the Longhorns, the running back is still planning on making unofficial visits this summer. According to Nick Harris of 247Sports, Owens will step foot on seven different campuses. Texas will have a full weekend in June, while local rivals will only get one day.

You can see Owens’ full schedule below:

  • Clemson – June 2-3
  • LSU – June 5
  • Alabama – June 8-9
  • Texas – June 11-13
  • Ohio State – June 15
  • Oklahoma – June 18
  • Texas A&M – June 24

Before committing to Texas, Red River rival Oklahoma was seen as the biggest competitor for Owens. Counting out Alabama would be foolish as well. The Crimson Tide find a way to land the top backs in the country on a yearly basis.

On the 247Sports composite, Owens is the No. 23 player and No. 2 running back in the country. Longhorn targets Anthony Hill (DE), Jalen Hale (WR), and David Hicks (DT) are the only prospects ranked ahead of the running back within the state of Texas.
