Vanderbilt at Colorado State odds, expert picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Vanderbilt at Colorado State odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Vanderbilt Commodores (0-1) and Colorado State Rams (0-1) meet Saturday at Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins, Colo. Kickoff is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Vanderbilt at Colorado State odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Commodores got off to a horrendous start to kick off the Clark Lea era, getting drummed 23-3 at home against East Tennessee State of the FCS. While the Buccaneers are no slouch, they’re still an FCS team beating an SEC opponent. It’s not a good look for Vandy.

The ‘Dores, whose saying is “Anchor Down”, looked like they were dragging an anchor on offense. They managed just 85 rushing yards, and 321 total yards overall.

The good news for Vandy, Colorado State wasn’t much better. The Rams had their doors blown off by South Dakota State, another lower-division school, although they’re ranked No. 2 in the FCS. Colorado State did not lead at any point in a rough start to its season.

Vanderbilt at Colorado State odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Colorado State 29, Vanderbilt 16

Money line

A play on Colorado State (-280) will cost you nearly three times your potential return, and that’s risky business on a team that was dusted by an FCS foe, albeit a good one, last weekend.

AVOID, and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

COLORADO STATE -6.5 (-120) should be able to ease past Vanderbilt +6.5 (+100) to get on track after last weekend’s debacle. The difference between these two teams last week is that the Rams looked to at least have a functional offense at times. The Commodores are a train wreck, make that a ship wreck, on offense.

Over/Under

UNDER 50.5 (-112) is the play, mainly because of the ineptitude of Vanderbilt’s offense last week. They aren’t likely to find much of a safe harbor in Fort Collins if they couldn’t even manage more than a field goal on their own field against an FCS foe. The Rams might give up a little bit, but it won’t be much.
