Kraken at Canucks projected goalies

Philipp Grubauer (12-21-4, 3.15 GAA, .887 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Thatcher Demko (20-16-2, 2.67 GAA, .916 SV%, 1 SO)

Since a 19-save shutout, Feb. 1, against the New York Islanders, Grubauer has dropped four consecutive starts while allowing an average of three goals during the losing streak. He is 1-4 with a 2.82 GAA and .900 SV% in five February starts.

Demko was trucked for five goals on 14 shots Saturday against the Ducks before being pulled. He has allowed nine goals on 42 shots across his past two outings, but he is still 3-2-0 in five starts in the month of February.

Kraken at Canucks odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Canucks 5, Kraken 3

Money line

The CANUCKS (-180) are a little on the pricey side but a solid play against the struggling Kraken (+145). Vancouver has registered seven of the past eight games as a favorite, while going 4-1 in the past five at home when favored.

The Kraken have fallen in 16 of the past 22 games on the road, while going 5-16 in the past 21 as an underdog and 2-6 in the previous eight inside the division.

Against the spread

The CANUCKS -1.5 (+140) at plus-money is a solid play here. Vancouver has beaten the opposition by two or more goals in five of their last seven victories.

Over/Under

OVER 5.5 (-130) is a bit costly, but it’s the best play on the board in this Pacific Northwest battle. The Over is 5-1 in the past six games for the Canucks, and 6-0 in the past six when favored. The Over is 4-1 in the previous five outings for the Kraken, while going 15-4-1 in the past 20 outings against teams with a losing overall record.

Anaheim Ducks at Vancouver Canucks odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Anaheim Ducks at Vancouver Canucks odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Anaheim Ducks (23-19-9) travel to meet the Vancouver Canucks (23-21-6) Saturday at Rogers Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Ducks vs. Canucks odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Ducks were blasted 7-3 last time out in Edmonton, and Anaheim has dropped each of the first two games on this road trip by a combined score of 13-5. Anaheim has lost four in a row since its last win, Jan. 29, in Ottawa.

The Canucks posted a 5-4 win in overtime at San Jose Thursday night, and Vancouver has won three of its past four games overall. The Canucks have won two of the previous three games at Rogers Arena, too.

Ducks at Canucks projected goalies

John Gibson (15-13-8, 2.74 GAA, .915 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Thatcher Demko (20-15-2, 2.57 GAA, .919 SV%, 1 SO)

Gibson is in a tailspin since the All-Star break, losing each of his three starts while yielding at least four goals in each of the appearances. He is 0-3-0 with a 6.11 GAA and .830 SV% in the disastrous showings since the break.

On the flip side, Demko has posted three wins in three starts since his appearance in the All-Star Game, although he did cough up four goals in a 5-4 overtime win at San Jose Thursday. He is 3-1-0 with a 2.54 GAA and .925 SV% in four starts in the month of February.

Ducks at Canucks odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Canucks 4, Ducks 1

Money line

The CANUCKS (-165) have been red-hot, while the Ducks (+133) have really struggled to shut down the opposition. Books haven’t really adjusted, and Vancouver is still only a moderate favorite and a nice value as well as it is playing.

Against the spread

The CANUCKS -1.5 (+150) are worth a roll of the dice on the puck line, even though each of their past two wins are by one goal apiece. Six of the previous eight victories for Vancouver have been by two or more goals, however.

Over/Under

UNDER 5.5 (-107) is a decent play, even though Gibson and the Ducks have been very giving lately. The Under is 2-1 in the first three meetings between these teams. The Under is 17-6-3 in the past 26 meetings, and 8-3-2 in the past 13 contests in this series in Vancouver, too.

New York Islanders at Vancouver Canucks odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s New York Islanders at Vancouver Canucks odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New York Islanders (16-17-6) travel to meet the Vancouver Canucks (21-20-6) Wednesday at Rogers Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Islanders vs. Canucks odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Islanders were blanked 3-0 at home by the Seattle Kraken prior to the All-Star break last Wednesday. New York has dropped three of its last four games, all three against Western Conference teams.

The Canucks picked up a 5-1 win against the Arizona Coyotes Tuesday in the front end of a back-to-back. Vancouver has alternated wins and losses in its last six outings.

Islanders at Canucks odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:49 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Islanders -120 (bet $120 to win $100) | Canucks +100 (bet $100 to win $100)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Islanders -1.5 (+210) | Canucks +1.5 (-320)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 5.5 (O: +120 | U: -150)

Islanders at Canucks projected goalies

Ilya Sorokin (13-8-5, 2.31 GAA, .924 SV%, 4 SO) vs. Jaroslav Halak (2-4-2, 2.40 GAA, .918 SV%)

Sorokin has been on fire since the ball dropped to ring in 2022. He has won six of his last seven starts since flipping the calendar from 2021, including two wins in three outings against Western Conference teams.

Halak may get the starting nod after Thatcher Demko started the front end of the home-and-home Tuesday. The veteran Halak picked up his first victory Jan. 31 after a month-long layoff, allowing just 1 goal on 21 shots at Chicago.

Islanders at Canucks odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Islanders 3, Canucks 1

Money line

The ISLANDERS (-120) look to redeem themselves on the road after a stunning 3-0 loss to the cellar-dwelling expansion Kraken before the break. The good news is that the star goalie Sorokin should be back in the blue ice, and he has really stood on his head over the past five weeks of play.

Against the spread

The ISLANDERS -1.5 (+210) is a risky play since New York has struggled with four losses in the past six outings. Still, Sorokin should be able to keep the Canucks down and the Isles might play with a little extra intensity facing Halak, a former Islanders backstop.

Over/Under

UNDER 5.5 (-150) is a strong play, as the Under has cashed in 10 of the past 13 games for the Islanders and is 5-2 in Sorokin’s last seven assignments. The Over cashed in Tuesday’s game for the Canucks, but the Under is 6-3 across their past nine outings.

Vancouver Canucks at Chicago Blackhawks odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Monday’s Vancouver Canucks at Chicago Blackhawks Lightning odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Vancouver Canucks (19-19-6) travel to meet the Chicago Blackhawks (16-21-7) Monday at United Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Canucks vs. Blackhawks odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Canucks dropped a heartbreaker at Calgary in overtime by a 1-0 score Saturday. While Vancouver has lost just once in regulation in its last seven outings, the Canucks have won just once in the past five games, too.

The Blackhawks were on the short end of a 6-4 home loss against the Colorado Avalanche last time out Friday. Chicago has posted a 1-3-2 mark across its last six outings. Chicago lost the first meeting between the clubs 4-1 at home Oct. 21 and picked up a 1-0 victory in Vancouver Nov. 21 in the most recent matchup.

Canucks at Blackhawks odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 10:07 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Canucks -115 ($115 to win $100) | Blackhawks -105 (bet $105 to win $100)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Canucks -1.5 (+205) | Blackhawks +1.5 (-300)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 5.5 (O: -122 | U: -102)

Canucks at Blackhawks projected goalies

Thatcher Demko (17-14-2, 2.57 GAA, .918 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Marc-Andre Fleury (14-14-3, 2.88 GAA, .909 SV%, 3 SO)

Demko has been red-hot lately, going 2-0-1 across his last three outings while coughing up just 4 total goals on 97 shots. All three of those impressive showings have come on the road.

Fleury has been knocked around for 15 total goals on 100 shots in his last four outings, going 1-3-0. One of his three shutouts came Nov. 21 in Vancouver.

Canucks at Blackhawks odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Blackhawks 3, Canucks 2

Money line

The BLACKHAWKS (-105) are a decent play at home behind Fleury, who shut the Canucks down last time they met. Neither of these teams is playing very well lately, so back the home side despite the fact the Blackhawks are just 3-9 in the past 12 tries against the Canucks.

Against the spread

The Alternate Spread Canucks +1.5 (-340) will cost you more than three times your potential return, and there just is no way to justify that kind of risk for such a little reward. If you like Vancouver just play them straight up.

PASS.

Over/Under

UNDER 5.5 (-102) is the lean, not only because these teams totaled just one goal in the meeting back in late November, but because these sides have each been struggling to light the lamp.

The Under is 5-1 in the past six games for Vancouver and is 5-1 in its last six on one days rest. The Under is also 3-1-1 in the last five against teams with a losing overall record for the Blackhawks.

Vancouver Canucks at Calgary Flames odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s Vancouver Canucks at Calgary Flames NHL betting odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Vancouver Canucks (1-2-0) and Calgary Flames (1-0-1) square off Monday for a 9 p.m. ET puck drop at Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary. Below, we analyze the Canucks-Flames NHL betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Canucks at Flames: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 10:45 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Canucks +125 (bet $100 to win $125) | Flames -150 (bet $150 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Canucks +1.5 (-225) | Flames -1.5 (+180)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: -120 | U: +100)

Canucks at Flames: Projected starting goalies

Thatcher Demko (0-1-0, .891 SV%, 5.01 GAA) vs. Jacob Markstrom (1-0-1, .939 SV%, 1.98 GAA)

Demko is expected to get the start against his former teammate Markstrom. He was dinged for five goals on 46 shots in a 5-2 road loss to the Edmonton Oilers Thursday.

Markstrom was allowed to walk in free agency, as the Canucks didn’t make a huge effort to bring him back with Demko waiting in the wings. He got his first crack against his former employer Saturday and he stopped all 32 shots he faced for his first shutout in a Flames sweater.

Canucks at Flames: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Flames 4, Canucks 2

Money line (ML)

The FLAMES (-150) are a good play with Markstrom playing with a chip on his shoulder. The Canucks are also a bit shorthanded, as D Quinn Hughes missed practice Sunday for an undisclosed reason, D Alexander Edler (leg) is a question mark after leaving after Matthew Tkachuk‘s skate accidentally cut his leg Saturday, and D Jordie Benn remains on the COVID-19 list.

F J.T. Miller returned from the COVID list and practiced, so that’s a positive for Vancouver, but the Canucks have a long way to go to get back to full health.

Against the spread (ATS)

Playing the FLAMES -1.5 (+180) is worth a roll of the dice, as you can nearly double up your investment. They blanked the Canucks in the first game of the two-game set. I expect Vancouver to be able to solve Markstrom, but he’ll still come out on top in the end.

Over/Under (O/U)

The projected total of 6 is too close to call. The Under hit in the first meeting, but I expect the total to be right on the number in the second battle.

That Under was a rarity, as the Over is 9-4 in the previous 13 in the series, and 19-8-4 in the past 31 meetings in Calgary.

AVOID.
