2023 PFL Europe 4 video: Bulging eye injury causes halt to Dakota Ditcheva vs. Valentina Scatizzi

A disturbing eye injury marked the end of the 2023 PFL Europe women’s flyweight championship tournament in Dublin.

The 2023 PFL Europe women’s flyweight championship tournament ended grotesquely Friday in Dublin.

At 2023 PFL Europe 4, the cage-side physician at 3Arena called off the fight between [autotag]Dakota Ditcheva[/autotag] and [autotag]Valentina Scatizzi[/autotag] in between Round 1 and 2, and for good reason.

Scatizzi’s eye became so swollen that Ditcheva (10-0) even signaled at the end of Round 1 she knew it was over. With purple swelling and bruising above and below the eye, the doctor deemed Scatizzi (2-2) unable to continue and Ditcheva was named champion.

Ditcheva, 25, is one of the promotion’s most highly-touted prospects. She used a nasty muay Thai-based attack of knees to the body and head to cause the fight-ending damage. With the victory, Ditcheva earned $100,000.
