Rankings courtesy of the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.
UTSA is coming off a 41-38 OT victory against Army, the Roadrunners’ 2nd OT game in as many weeks. QB Frank Harris threw for 359 yards with 3 touchdowns. His top targets were WRs Zakhari Franklin (10 receptions, 122 yards, 1 TD) and Joshua Cephus (10, 112, 0). RB Brenden Brady also had a big day, carrying the ball 19 times for 76 yards and 2 TDs. The Roadrunners will hope for the same offensive firepower to show up Saturday against the Longhorns.
Texas lost late in a nail-biter at home, falling 20-19 to top-ranked Alabama on a last-second field goal. QB Quinn Ewers threw for 134 yards (9-for-12 pass attempts, 0 TD, 0 INT) before exiting with what appeared to be a shoulder injury. Backup QB Hudson Card stepped in somewhat seamlessly, passing for 158 yards (14-for-22, 0, 0). RB Bijan Robinson had a great day for the Longhorns, carrying the ball 21 times for 57 yards and a TD along with 3 receptions for 73 yards. The Longhorns will hope to rally behind Ewers’ injury to come away with a home win.

UTSA at Texas picks and predictions
Prediction
Texas 38, UTSA 17
Money line
PASS. The risk is not worth the reward with -500 odds for Texas.
Against the spread
Lean TEXAS -12.5 (-110).
Although the Longhorns lost Ewers to an injury, Card stepped in and delivered. He may not have the same abilities as Ewers, but he has the ability to keep the offense rolling. Furthermore, the Longhorns defense looked phenomenal against an offensive powerhouse in the Crimson Tide. Texas should continue rolling this week against UTSA.
The Longhorns are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 September games, while UTSA is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight up win.
Over/Under
TAKE OVER 57.5 (-110).
Expect the Longhorns offense to start rolling early. Robinson will look to pick up where he left off against Alabama and will be facing a much weaker defense this week. The offense will look for explosive plays to get an early lead and not look back from there.
The Over is 6-0 in UTSA’s last 6 games overall; the Over is 4-0 in Texas’ last 4 games against Conference USA opponents.
