USC at Washington odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s USC at Washington odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The USC Trojans (10-3, 2-0 Pac-12) visit the Washington Huskies (9-4, 1-1) for a Friday night Pac-12 battle in Seattle. Opening tip at Alaska Airlines Arena is slated for 10 p.m. ET (ESPN2). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the USC vs. Washington odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

USC has not lost since Nov. 25 and returns to action after an 8-day holiday break. The Men of Troy tote a 6-game overall winning streak and a 2-game run against the number into this contest up the coast. They are playing just their 2nd true road game of the season.

The Huskies last played Dec. 21, losing 84-61 (as a +3.5 ‘dog) to an Auburn team that Southern Cal had beaten 74-71 in overtime 3 days earlier. Washington yielded the 84 points to the Tigers after holding foes to just 64.5 points per game in their previous 12 outings.

Against the spread

The Trojans are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games following an ATS win. The Huskies are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a double-digit loss at home.

USC swept 2 games from UW last season, but the Huskies went 2-0 ATS. This season these teams are very similar in a lot of ways. Look for the home team to have an edge coming off the Christmas layoff and for Washington to have an edge in the turnover war and in getting closer looks.

BACK THE HUSKIES +1.5 (-115).

Over/Under

Neither team has played a strong group of offenses so far. The Over is 5-1 in the Huskies last 6 games vs. teams with a winning percentage over .600. And the Over is 4-1 in UW’s last 5 home games.

AVOID on the current figure, but look to bet the Over if the total gets to 141.5.

USC at Washington: Three things to know

  1. USC beat Washington 95-68 as a 13.5-point home favorite in mid-January. Sophomore F Isaiah Mobley scored a career-high 18 points and his younger brother, freshman F Evan Mobley, added 17 points as USC cruised to the win. The Trojans, who led 44-23 at the half, hit their first seven shots and held the Huskies to a 3-for-13 start.
  2. The Trojans, winners of 10 of their last 11, enter on a 4-game winning streak, recently knocking off crosstown rival UCLA 66-48 as a 4.5-point home favorite Saturday. Evan Mobley leads the Trojans in scoring (16.3 points per game), rebounds (9.0 RPG) and blocks (2.9 BPG). The 7-foot freshman is expected to be a high NBA Draft pick after the season.
  3. Washington has lost its last three games, most recently falling 86-74 at Oregon Saturday. The Huskies covered the spread as 13-point underdogs. Senior G Quade Green is the only Huskies player averaging double figures in points (15.4 PPG), while also leading the team in assists (3.4 APG) and steals (1.2 SPG).

Against the spread (ATS)

WASHINGTON +11.5 (-105) is the play. Expect USC to have a letdown in its first game since breaking into the Top 25 and its impressive win against UCLA.

The Trojans will win Thursday, but it won’t be a blowout. While they’re 4-1 straight up and 3-2 ATS in Pac-12 road games, only one of the victories was by double digits.

The Huskies are 2-3 SU/3-2 ATS in home conference games, including a notable 84-80 win against third-place Colorado (15-5, 9-4) in mid-January.

ATS: USC 11-7 | Washington 6-11

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 145.5 (-110) is the STRONGEST PLAY – 1½ times your usual wager. Washington allows 78.6 PPG overall and 79.8 PPG in Pac-12 home games.

Meanwhile, USC’s defense ranks 39th in the country in points allowed (63.7 PPG), and sixth in opponents’ field-goal percentage (37.9%). But again, this will be a letdown outing for the Trojans.

O/U records: USC 10-8 | Washington 11-6
