Arkansas Softball rises in national polls following sweep of Florida

Arkansas softball’s stock continues to rise with two weeks remaining in the regular season.

The Arkansas Razorbacks softball program did something over the weekend that had never been done before.

In their 26-year history, Arkansas had never won a series with Florida in Gainesville. They did that with a 5-4 win over Florida on Saturday. Arkansas made history again on Sunday by sweeping Florida for the first time in history, defeating the Gators 2-0.

Beating Florida in softball is no easy task, let alone taking all three games of a weekend series in Gainesville. The national polls took note, and Arkansas continues to climb.

After a series win over LSU, check out where Arkansas Softball lands in the USA Today and D1Softball polls, as well as the RPI.

Following a successful weekend that ended with a series win over LSU, the Arkansas Razorbacks still rank among the nation’s best.

Arkansas checks in at No. 10 in the latest polls from USA Today and D1Softball, and has an RPI of 18th best in the country.

The Razorbacks took two-of-three from the No. 21 LSU Tigers over the weekend at Bogle Park to move their record to 22-6, 4-2 in SEC play. The series win is the second in as many weeks for Arkansas, as they defeated Tennessee twice in three opportunities to open SEC play during the weekend of March 18-20.

Arkansas is currently tied for 3rd place in the SEC standings with Georgia and Mississippi State with a 4-2 league record, trailing just Alabama and Auburn, who are 6-3 against SEC teams.

Next up for Arkansas is a three-game series at Ole Miss beginning Friday in Oxford, Miss.
