San Diego State at UNLV odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s San Diego State Aztecs at UNLV Rebels odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 23 San Diego State Aztecs (9-1, 5-1 Mountain West) visit the UNLV Rebels (2-8, 2-4) Friday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the San Diego State vs. UNLV odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Aztecs pulled out a 23-21 win over Nevada last Saturday, although they failed to cover as 2.5-point favorites. San Diego State is 0-2-1 ATS across the past three, and just 1-3-1 ATS over the previous five outings.

The Rebels started out 0-8 SU, but they haven’t given up. UNLV posted wins and covers in each of the past two games, including a 27-13 victory over Hawaii last weekend at Allegiant.

San Diego State at UNLV odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

San Diego State 30, UNLV 13

Money line

San Diego State (-450) is a conference title contender with just one loss, but it doesn’t have a prolific offense. Every game is a fight, and the Aztecs rely a lot upon the defense. They won’t get tripped up by an improving, but still bad UNLV team, however. But risking four and a half times your potential return is just not a recommended betting strategy over the long term.

PASS.

Against the spread

SAN DIEGO STATE -10.5 (-115) is quite a low line considering it is a nine-win team playing against UNLV, a team that tasted victory for the first time two weeks ago.

Yes, the Rebels have been hot, but beating New Mexico and Hawaii isn’t cause for celebration for most teams. San Diego State is a huge step up in competition, and UNLV will be back to the ‘L’ column in a big way after this one.

Over/Under

The OVER 41.5 (-105) is the play, but do so with caution. San Diego State hasn’t scored more than 23 points in five games dating back to Oct. 9. The Under is 5-1 in the past six for the Aztecs, too. But UNLV has allowed 31.8 PPG overall this season, and if San Diego State is going to re-discover its offense, it will be here on the fast track at Allegiant Stadium.

UNLV at Nevada odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s UNLV Rebels at Nevada Wolfpack odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The UNLV Rebels (0-7, 0-3 MWC) and Nevada Wolfpack (5-2, 2-1) meet for a Friday 10 p.m. ET game at Mackay Stadium in Reno, Nev. Below, we look at the UNLV vs. Nevada odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

UNLV has been getting close. Including a 27-20 setback against San Jose State Oct. 21, the Rebels have lost four consecutive games by 8 points or less. They led the San Jose State 20-13 heading into the fourth quarter. How does a team ranked outside the top 110 on both sides of the ball play so many close games in a schedule that ranks above average? The Rebels rank in the top 30 in red-zone efficiency on both offense and defense.

The Wolfpack are coming off a close loss of their own, getting tripped up by Fresno State 34-32 in Week 8. The loss came after a three-game winning streak. Nevada suffered the loss despite compiling 523 yards of total offense. Nevada ranks third in the Mountain West Conference in total offense (459.3 yards per game).

  • Against the spread (ATS): UNLV +20.5 (-112) | Nevada -20.5 (-108)

UNLV at Nevada odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Nevada 35, UNLV 21

Money line

Peg a slight lean on UNLV in this one. It’s more of a slight fade of the host Wolfpack against what is analytically a bottom-5 Rebels group.

The latter leads me to a partial-unit play just as a default guard against overplaying teams that habitually underperform. In this case, that’s a hold-my-nose-and-take-UNLV-and-the-points play. PASS ON THE MONEY LINE.

Against the spread

BACK UNLV +20.5 (-112).

The Rebels are 4-0-1 ATS in their last five games as road underdogs. The road team is 6-2 ATS in the last eight series meetings.

Nevada won last year’s game 37-19, but the contest was close heading into the fourth quarter.

A couple impressive offensive performances for the Wolfpack this fall involve some extraneous factors. Nevada beat Hawaii 34-17 in a game that saw the Wolfpack finish as a plus-5 in turnovers. UN beat New Mexico State, 55-28 in a contest that saw the Aggies pile up 108 yards in penalties.

Figure UNLV as staying within 14 fairly late. The odds of an ATS win after that are just north of the profit line.

Over/Under

The last 10 series games in Reno have seen the Under go 8-2.

The fade-the-Nevada offense has just enough pull here. BACK THE UNDER 58.5 (-115).

San Jose State at UNLV odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s San Jose State Spartans at UNLV Rebels odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The San Jose State Spartans (3-4, 1-2 Mountain West) travel to meet the UNLV Rebels (0-6, 0-2) Thursday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the San Jose State vs. UNLV odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Spartans are coming off a 19-13 overtime loss as 9-point home underdogs against a ranked San Diego State team. The cover snapped an 0-5 against the spread (ATS) skid. QB Nick Starkel (arm injury) hasn’t played since exiting the Western Michigan game Sept. 25. The offense has averaged just 13.5 points per game (PPG) across the past two games.

The Rebels put up a tremendous fight at home against Utah State, falling just 28-24 as 7.5-point underdogs. UNLV might be winless, but it has covered three in a row and five of six overall. The Under is 4-1 across the past five outings.

San Jose State at UNLV odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

San Jose State 27, UNLV 16

Money line

San Jose State (-210) will cost you more than two times your potential return, and that’s risky business. There is no certainty that Starkel will be able to return from his three-game absence. Against a winless UNLV team, the Spartans might not feel the need to risk Starkel aggravating his ailment.

AVOID and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

SAN JOSE STATE -4.5 (-108) is the play with or without Starkel. QB Nick Nash did a decent enough job as the replacement against New Mexico State, a bad team. He should be able to steer the Spartans offense to the victory if Starkel isn’t quite ready against another bad team.

Over/Under

UNDER 46.5 (-112) is the best bet as the San Jose State D has really picked up the pace while the offense is dealing with an injury to its field general. The Spartans allowed just 19 points in the OT loss to San Diego State, and they held Western Michigan to 23 and Hawaii to just 13. They also did a decent job against USC, yielding just 30 points in the Coliseum.

San Jose State should be able to throw a blanket on this flagging UNLV offense.

UNLV at Fresno State odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s UNLV at Fresno State odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The UNLV Rebels (0-3) and Fresno State Bulldogs (3-1) meet Friday at Bulldog Stadium in Fresno, Calif. Kickoff is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the UNLV vs. Fresno State odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Rebels opened the season with a 35-33 overtime loss against Eastern Washington, and they followed that up with a 37-10 loss at Arizona State before taking an ugly 48-3 loss at home against Iowa State last weekend.

The Bulldogs are No. 25 in the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports and returned to the rankings after a 40-37 road victory over UCLA last weekend. If you missed it, the Fresno-UCLA game was an instant classic, with QB Jake Haener gutting out a comeback win despite a hip injury.

  • Against the spread (ATS): UNLV +30.5 (-110) | Fresno State -30.5 (-110)

UNLV at Fresno State odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Fresno State 45, UNLV 10

Money line

You can’t play Fresno State (-10000) straight up and risk $100 for every $1 won. That’s just a poor long-term betting strategy which will have you in the red before too long.

AVOID, and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

FRESNO STATE -30.5 (-110) is going to keep its foot on the gas after the big win in the Rose Bowl. The Bulldogs have an underrated offense, as Haener, WRs Jalen Cropper and Josh Kelly and RB Ronnie Rivers are skill position players who would start at a number of Pac-12 schools.

Look for the Bulldogs to get it done in “The Valley” in this Mountain West opener for both. The favorite cashed in four of the last five meetings in this series.

Stream college football games on ESPN+ by signing up here.

Over/Under

UNDER 59.5 (-115) is the lean, as I love the Fresno State offense, but I don’t trust the UNLV offense one bit. The Rebels were horrendous against Iowa State, another ranked team, last week, and that one was in their home building.

UNLV will continue to spin the wheels on the road against a Bulldogs team playing with a lot of confidence.

UNLV at Hawaii odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s UNLV Rebels at Hawaii Rainbow Warriors sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The UNLV Rebels (0-5, 0-5 MWC) travel to meet the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (3-4, 3-4) Saturday for an 11 p.m. ET kickoff in Honolulu at Aloha Stadium. Below, we analyze the UNLV-Hawaii college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

UNLV at Hawaii: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 5:15 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: UNLV +700 (bet $100 to win $700) | Hawaii -1200 (bet $1,200 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: UNLV +18 (-110) | Hawaii -18 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 58.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

UNLV at Hawaii: Three things to know

  1. The Rebels have been a disaster so far this season, losing each of their five outings by at least 13 points. That includes a 45-14 beatdown at home from Wyoming. So far they’re 0-4-1 ATS, and they have allowed at least 34 points in every outing to date.
  2. It has been a mixed bag for Hawaii this season, as they have had some glimpses of brilliance, and a few ugly showings, too. They topped Nevada 24-21 in the islands on Nov. 28, winning outright as seven-point ‘dogs, but also have an ugly 34-10 loss at San Diego State on Nov. 14, and a 31-7 loss at Wyoming on Oct. 30. The offense has been much more consistent of late, however, averaging 26.7 PPG over the past three.
  3. The favorite has connected in four of the past five meetings in this series, with the Over hitting in four of the previous five head-to-head battles in the islands.

UNLV at Hawaii: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Hawaii 38, UNLV 13

Money line (ML)

Hawaii (-1200) will cost you 12 times your potential return, which means a $100 wager would net a profit of just $8.33. That’s not a smart decision. PASS.

Against the spread (ATS)

HAWAII -18 (-110) is worth a roll of the dice against the number, as the offense has looked much better in recent weeks. UNLV +18 (-110) has been disjointed all season, and it’s hard to imagine them hanging with the high-octane Rainbow Warriors for 60 minutes. The Rebels just want to get this season over with at this point.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 58.5 (-110) is the play in this one. The only concern is UNLV’s defense, and if they can stop Hawaii’s offense. But the Rainbow Warriors haven’t been as prolific as in recent seasons.

Still, UNLV yields 38.0 PPG, ranking 116th in the country, and they have been trampled in the run game, coughing up 250.4 yards per outing on the ground. Go lightly on the Under.

Wyoming at UNLV odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s Wyoming Cowboys at UNLV Rebels sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Wyoming Cowboys (1-2, 1-2 MWC) and UNLV Rebels (0-4, 0-4) square off Friday in Las Vegas at Allegiant Stadium for a 4 p.m. kickoff time. Below, we analyze the Wyoming-UNLV college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Wyoming at UNLV: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:12 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Wyoming -667 (bet $667 to win $100) | UNLV +480 (bet $100 to win $480)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Wyoming -16 (-110) | UNLV +16 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 51.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Wyoming at UNLV: Three things to know

  1. Wyoming hasn’t played since Nov. 5, having its past two scheduled games (vs. Air Force and Utah State) wiped out due to COVID-related issues in their opponent’s football programs. UNLV is in the same boat, as COVID issues within its program forced a cancellation of its game against Colorado State last week.
  2. Wyoming is the only one of these two programs to taste victory this season, dropping Hawaii 31-7 Oct. 30 in its lone home game so far. The Cowboys are 0-2 SU/ATS on the road this season, averaging 29.0 PPG and allowing 35.5 PPG, both Over results.
  3. UNLV was doubled up 34-17 at San Jose State last time out on Nov. 14, and it is 0-4 SU/0-3-1 ATS overall while yielding at least 34 points in every game to date.

Wyoming at UNLV: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Wyoming 45, UNLV 19

Money line (ML)

Wyoming (-667) has struggled on the road this season, but it should find plenty of success in Vegas against a UNLV (+480) team which has been a disaster. Still, you can’t put up more than seven times your potential return. AVOID, and look to the spread.

Against the spread (ATS)

WYOMING -16 (-110) is the best play on the board here, even if the Cowboys haven’t covered the number in two previous road games so far this season. The Cowboys run the ball effectively, averaging 184.3 yards per game on the ground, led by RB Xazavian Valladay’s 397 rushing yards. The Rebels been gouged for 213.3 rushing YPG and 36.3 PPG. This one won’t be pretty for the home side.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 51.5 (-110) is a great play. The Cowboys will look to mash the Rebels on the ground, with several helpings of touchdowns along the way. The Rebels just haven’t offered a lot of resistance defensively, so bettors should find the points copious in this one.
