The state of Michigan is one of the world’s leading producers of blueberries. While most are grown in the sandy soil of West Michigan, Detroit will have a pretty impressive crop of “blueberries” on Sunday.

The Lions will rock their all-blue uniforms, which have affectionately become known as the blueberries with fans. The blue jerseys and blue pants with silver trim and solid blue socks have proven to be a good luck charm for the team, too.

Detroit went 5-0 in the regular season wearing those blueberries, averaging 33 points per game in the uniform combination.

HOUSTON — There’s one final game of the 2023 season, and it’s perhaps a big one. It’s the national championship game, for all the marbles. Michigan football vs. Washington, the final Big Ten vs. Pac-12 matchup before the Huskies join the Big Ten next season.

As the No. 1 team in the country, Michigan is the home team at NRG Stadium in Houston. Thus, the Wolverines were already going to wear blue tops. But what else are they planning to wear? What color pants? What color accessories?

As expected, and much like the last time the Wolverines played the Huskies, Michigan will wear the “big game blues” — blue tops, blue pants, blue accessories. The maize and blue have lost only one game while wearing the all-blues, the 2021 College Football Playoff semifinal in the Capital One Orange Bowl against Georgia. The first time the look was unveiled in-game was against Washington that same year.

As noted, Michigan will also have the special 2024 patch over the Jordan insignia, indicating that it’s playing in the national championship game.

Kickoff at NRG Stadium will be at 7:30 p.m. EST.

A win in Week 18 would also help head coach Arthur Smith avoid his third consecutive 7-10 season. The Falcons will be wearing their white uniforms with white pants during Sunday’s finale in New Orleans, the team announced on Thursday. 

Atlanta’s season finale kicks off at 1:00 p.m. ET, and will feature former Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan on the call for CBS. The Falcons are currently three-point underdogs heading into Week 18.

Usually what Michigan football wears to practice is an indication of what the Wolverines will wear in their game that week. Like clockwork, if we saw a player after practice on Tuesday night wearing maize pants, they wore maize pants in a game. Likewise, if they wore blue pants in practice, they wore blue pants in the game.

That trend ends now.

On Friday, we saw the Michigan football team wearing blue pants in practice, but the team revealed their Rose Bowl uniforms on Saturday morning. Going with a traditional look, the Wolverines will be wearing blue tops, maize pants, and white accessories.

And, as fans had hoped, there are special patches on the shoulders, like Michigan used to wear in the Rose Bowl back in the day. There’s also a front patch, and the towel has the Rose Bowl logo on it as well.

It might not be snowy in Dallas, but there will be a whiteout on Saturday night. The Detroit Lions are going to rock their all-white uniforms for the prime-time game against the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium.

The combination of white jerseys, white pants and white socks is unbeaten for Detroit. The Lions are 4-0 in 2023 wearing the all-white combination, with road wins over Kansas City, Green Bay, Los Angeles and New Orleans.

Dallas is countering by wearing their solid dark blue jerseys and white pants. The Cowboys are 1-0 this year in that combination and haven’t lost in that specific kit since Week 10 of the 2019 season, winning all six times.

Justin Fields and the Bears have won three out of their last four games heading into Sunday’s contest. Chicago is a three-point favorite, however, Atlanta is coming off its most complete performance of the season.

The Falcons are set to wear their white uniforms with black pants against the Bears in Week 17. Sunday’s game starts at 1:00 p.m. ET from Soldier Field in Chicago.

The Peach Bowl is nearly here as Penn State has made the trip down south to begin the final preparations for their postseason matchup against Ole Miss in Atlanta. The first-ever meeting with the Rebels in Penn State history will have an opportunity to create some college football history as Penn State looks to become the first school in college football to record a win in each of the New Years Six bowl games. If they do manage to get that historic win, they will do so looking their finest.

Penn State will be wearing their traditional home uniforms with blue jerseys for the Peach Bowl, the team recently confirmed. This will be the first time Penn State has worn its home look in a bowl game since the 2019 Cotton Bowl, a high-scoring victory over Memphis.

Penn State wore their all-white uniform for each of their last two bowl trips, the 2022 Outback Bowl loss to Arkansas and last season’s Rose Bowl victory over Utah.

That means Ole Miss will be wearing its white road uniforms for the game. The Rebels have some options to play with their helmets though, although it would be best if they wear their powder blue helmet.

While Penn State may be wearing their home uniforms, the school is asking fans attending the game in Atlanta to wear white to the game. The Peach Bowl has sold out the 71,000-seat Mercedes-Benz Stadium, so there figures to be a good number of Penn State fans in Atlanta for the game.

Penn State faces Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 30 at 12:00 p.m. ET. The game will air on ESPN.

The Saints will be wearing their Color Rush uniforms against the Rams, with a twist. They might be shelving their controversial black helmets:

Now this is interesting. The New Orleans Saints (7-7) are hitting the road for a huge game with the Los Angeles Rams (7-7) on Thursday night, and they’ve announced that they’ll be wearing the fan-favorite “Color Rush” alternate uniforms for this prime-time game — with a twist.

It looks like the Saints are ditching the controversial black helmets they’ve paired with these all-white uniforms since last year’s game with the Minnesota Vikings in London. Their announcement on social media uses older photos of players wearing the usual gold helmets, not these new black ones, which drew a mixed reaction from fans for clashing with the jerseys and pants.

Hopefully that’s the case. Black helmets could work for the Saints if paired with the right uniforms (like their classic throwbacks) and if given a little more polish. We’ll find out for sure at kickoff. If you’re curious, the Saints were 9-5 in their “Color Rush” variants with gold helmets, and winless in three games with black helmets.
