The UNC Football program picked up a commitment from a three-star safety in the 2023 recruiting class on Tuesday.

Mack Brown and the UNC Football program have picked up another commitment for their 2023 class.

On Tuesday morning, three-star safety Zachary Tobe pledged his verbal commitment to the program. Tobe picked UNC over 21 offers including his final list of UCF, Boston College, Illinois, and Iowa.

Tobe was on UNC’s campus last weekend for his official visit. as the Tar Heels got the final visit of his group of finalists and in the end, it was enough to land the commitment. The Ocoee, Florida native is ranked No. 856 overall, No. 67 safety, and No. 122 player in the state of Florida per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.

Tobe is now the 8th player to commit to North Carolina in the 2023 class, giving them the No. 43 overall class per 247Sports and the No. 10 class in the ACC.

Top UNC football recruiting target sets decision date

The top UNC football recruiting target Jamaal Jarrett has set a decision date and will pick between North Carolina, Auburn, and Georgia.

The UNC football program will soon find out its fate in the race for four-star defensive lineman Jamaal Jarrett.

The Greensboro, North Carolina native is set to make his decision in July as he posted a tweet on Monday with a countdown of 22 days until he makes his decision. Jarrett will announce his decision on July 19th but has yet to reveal where or if there will be a special ceremony for his commitment.

Jarrett is down to Auburn, North Carolina, and Georgia, although most believe it’s a two-team race between the Tar Heels and Bulldogs in this recruitment.

The 6-foot-6, 350-pound Jarrett is ranked as a four-star prospect, the No. 176 overall prospect, No. 26 defensive lineman, and No. 3 player in the state of North Carolina per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.

He’s taken trips to all three of his finalists including one to North Carolina a few weeks back.

UNC lands commitment from three-star defensive back

The UNC football program has landed a three-star defensive back in the 2023 recruiting class on Sunday afternoon.

Mack Brown and his UNC football team have landed another recruit.

On Sunday, three-star defensive back Tre Miller pledged his verbal commitment to North Carolina as he ended his recruitment. The 5-foot-9, 165-pound Miller hails out of Edmond, Oklahoma after transferring there this year and had 17 offers in his recruitment. But in the end, UNC stood out as he picked the Tar Heels over Arizona State, USC, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Tennessee, Florida State, and Duke among other offers.

Miller becomes the seventh player to join UNC for the 2023 class which now ranks No. 46 nationally. The Tar Heels now have two defensive backs committed as he joins Kaleb Cost.

As a three-star recruit, Miller is ranked No. 514 nationally, No. 52 defensive back, and the No. 6 player in the state of Oklahoma per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.

The Tar Heels still have several offers out to other recruits as Brown and his staff hope it’s a busy Summer in Chapel Hill.

UNC target decommits from Pitt, opening door for Tar Heels

A three-star UNC football recruiting target has decommitted from Pitt on Sunday, opening the door for the Tar Heels.

The door is now open for the UNC football program to land another big target in the 2023 recruiting class.  On Sunday, three-star defensive back Shelton Lewis tweeted out that he is reopening his recruitment and has decommitted from Pitt.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound defensive back out of Stockbridge has a total of 23 offers in his recruitment. He committed to Pitt in early June but after visits to Arkansas, UNC and even Pitt, he has now changed his mind. And there’s a new leader in the clubhouse.

Mack Brown and the Tar Heels appear to be the favorites moving forward in this recruitment. Lewis just took a visit to UNC and then decommitted from Pitt as the Tar Heels were attempting to flip him. That doesn’t appear to be an accident, either.

The Tar Heels also lead the 247Sports crystal ball predictor with one prediction and confidence of 7.

While Lewis just decommitted, this recruitment could move quickly and all things are pointing in favor of the Tar Heels.

Pitt commit discusses recent visit to UNC

Mack Brown and the UNC Football program are hoping to flip this three-star defensive back that is committed to Pitt.

The UNC football program continues to focus on the 2023 recruiting class, hoping to eventually turn in a top 25 class when it’s all said and done.

Right now, UNC has a total of six commitments that 2023 class but they do have their eyes on several other prospects. That includes three-star defensive back [autotag]Shelton Lewis[/autotag] who is currently committed to Pitt. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound defensive back committed to Pitt in early June but did take a visit to UNC’s campus last weekend.

And UNC is hoping to flip the recruitment.

Following the visit, Lewis talked to Don Callahan of Inside Carolina about the visit and it sounds like it went well as PittsburghSportsNow writes:

In an interview with Don Callahan from Inside Carolina of 247 Sports, Lewis said “It was a great visit. The coaches the atmosphere, the players – everything was more than I expected.

Lewis went on to tell Callahan that he was done with official visits and was then asked if he’s sticking with Pitt or possibly flipping to UNC?

“I’ll say (on making a final decision) maybe in June or July – before the season for sure. I want to feel wanted on campus by everybody.”

The three-star recruit is certainly raising his stock as his recruitment goes on and is drawing serious interest from UNC. The Tar Heels obviously see something in Lewis that makes them want to flip him and now we have to wait and see what happens this Summer.

Tar Heels make cut for four-star defensive back

Mack Brown and the UNC Football program have made the cut for this four-star defensive back.

[autotag]Mack Brown[/autotag] and the UNC football program took a step forward in the recruitment for a four-star defensive back this week.

Florida native Tavoy Feagin cut his list of 47 offers down to just his top 10 schools, making an important update to his recruitment. The defensive back announced that he will now focus on UNC, Miami, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, LSU, Clemson, Florida State, and Oklahoma in his recruitment.

The 6-foot, 170-pound prospect is ranked as a top 50 overall player and the No. 4 safety in the 2024 recruiting class by 247Sports. He’s a prized recruit that has drawn interest from some of the top programs as you can see by his list.

For UNC, it’s great news that they have made his Top 10 after cutting down the list. However, there’s a lot of work to do and it’s against some tough competition.

Feagin’s list has some elite programs on his list including SEC powers Alabama and Georgia, as well as in-state programs like Miami, Florida and Florida State.

Georgia football in top schools for elite DT Jamaal Jarrett

Four-star defensive tackle Jamaal Jarrett is the third-ranked player in North Carolina and has narrowed it down to only three schools.

Jamaal Jarrett is the third-ranked player in North Carolina. Jarrett is a big defensive tackle with a similar frame to Georgia Bulldogs legend Jordan Davis. Jordan Davis is also from North Carolina.

Now, Jarrett considers his top three schools to be Georgia, Auburn, and North Carolina. Jarrett’s commitment is scheduled for July 19. He has taken recent visits to all three of his top schools.

Jamaal Jarrett plays high school football for Grimsley High School in Greensboro, North Carolina. Can the UNC Tar Heels get Jarrett to stay home or will he leave the state and try to be the next Jordan Davis or Derrick Brown?

The 6-foot-6, 350-pound defensive tackle is ranked as the No. 176 recruit in class of 2023. Jamaal Jarrett is considered the No. 26 defensive lineman in the rising senior class. He has committed to play in the 2023 All-American Bowl.

The Grimsley standout is also a track and field athlete. Jarrett plans to be an early enrollee at the next level.

Jamaal Jarrett is more of run-stuffer than a pass rusher, which is expected of someone at his size. Jarrett shows the ability to shed blocks and deliver big hits on tape. He is simply to big and athletic for most high school offensive linemen to block.

The four-star defensive line recruit named his top three schools via Twitter and set his commitment date:

UNC lands commitment from three-star defensive back

The UNC football program has landed a commitment from a dual-sport athlete in the 2023 class as Kaleb Cost pledged his verbal on Saturday.

Things are starting to heat up in the 2023 recruiting class for Mack Brown and the UNC football program.

On Saturday, the Tar Heels landed their second commitment in the class of the week as three-star defensive back [autotag]Kaleb Cost[/autotag] announced his verbal commitment to the program. The Tyrone, Georgia native committed to UNC just days after three-star linebacker Caleb LaVallee pledged his commitment following a visit.

The 5-foot-10, 180-pound Cost is a dual-athlete playing both football and baseball and per Inside Carolina, he is likely to play both sports while at North Carolina.

The talented defensive back had a total of 15 offers in his recruitment with programs like Pitt, Miami, Mississippi State, Boston College, UNC, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Florida State, and East Carolina hoping to land him. But following his visit to UNC last weekend, Cost made his decision to be a Tar Heel.

UNC now has five commitments in the 2023 recruiting class and are set to host several prospects here in the month of June.

Four-star WR says he will visit UNC football program

Four-star in-state receiver Noah Rogers will visit the UNC Football program here in June as his recruitment might be coming to an end.

Mack Brown and the UNC football program appear to be in good shape for a key four-star wide receiver in the 2023 class.

Rolesville, North Carolina native [autotag]Noah Rogers[/autotag] is heading towards the finish line of his recruitment and as we head to the end, the Tar Heels are among the teams that are impressing him in his recruitment. Rogers spoke on his recruitment at the inaugural OT7 Tournament in Las Vegas and UNC will be one school that gets a visit very soon.

Here’s what the ACC Sports Journal says about Rogers’ recruitment and the upcoming visits via 247Sports:

The next few weeks and months will be big for Rogers; he took an official visit to Clemson last week. Next, Rogers has three more visits on the docket over the following two weeks: Ohio State (June 17) and NC State (June 22). After the visit to NC State, Rogers will take an official visit to UNC.

Rogers is rated as a four-star recruit that is No. 50 nationally, No. 9 wide receiver and the No. 1 player in the state of North Carolina. While UNC appears to be in good shape, they have some ground to make up.

Ohio State is considered the favorite in this recruitment and does hold the 247Sports Crystal Ball prediction right now. But a visit could change a lot of things and that’s what UNC is hoping for.

UNC Football lands commitment from Caleb LaVallee

The UNC football program has landed a three-star linebacker out of the state of Georgia in the 2023 recruiting class.

The UNC football program’s first big recruiting weekend of June has paid off in the form of a commitment.

Just a day after his official visit ended in Chapel Hill, three-star linebacker Caleb LaVallee pledged his verbal commitment to the program on Monday night.  The 6-foot-1, 215-pound linebacker hails out of Georgia and is set to enter his senior season at Whitefield Academy in Mableton.

LaVallee is rated as a three-star prospect and ranked as the No. 769 overall recruit, No. 65 linebacker and the No. 74 player in the state of Georgia per the 247Sports rankings.

LaVallee posted this Tweet on his Twitter account showing his verbal commitment:

The linebacker had a total of 28 offers in his recruitment, picking UNC over programs like Maryland, Miami, and Minnesota among others.

LaVallee is the fourth player to commit to North Carolina in the 2023 class which now ranks No. 46 in the nation.
