Five-star UNC football target cuts list down to final six

A top UNC football recruiting target has cut his list down to six and has set a decision date for November to end his recruitment.

The recruitment for five-star defensive lineman [autotag]Daevin Hobbs[/autotag] is nearing an end here this Fall.

The Concord, North Carolina product made an important update to his recruitment on Wednesday, cutting his list of 26 offers down to a final six and setting an announcement date. Hobbs will make his decision on November 25th and will pick between UNC, Ohio State, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, and Michigan.

The final six list is filled with college powers, making a tough task ahead for UNC to keep the talented recruit in the state of North Carolina.  The 6-foot-4, 262-pound Hobbs is a top 50 overall prospect and is ranked No. 1 overall in the state of North Carolina.

Hobbs has made a few different visits so far, taking trips to UNC, Auburn, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Georgia. He’s scheduled to head to Alabama this weekend for a visit.

Right now, it’s tough to project who is in the lead in this recruitment and while the Tar Heels have the three predictions on the 247Sports crystal ball, those all came over the Summer or back in May. And things may have changed in his recruitment since then.

UNC football flips three-star safety from East Carolina

The UNC football program has landed a three-star safety in the 2023 recruiting class, flipping him from East Carolina.

It’s been a good weekend for Mack Brown and the UNC football program.

After the team improved to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the ACC with the win over Duke on Saturday, the Tar Heels got another win on Sunday. But this time on the recruiting trail.

Brown and his staff were able to flip a three-star safety in the 2023 recruiting class. Ayden Duncanson announced on Sunday that he is flipping his commitment from East Carolina to the Tar Heels just a week after he took a visit to Chapel Hill. UNC has been in pursuit of the talented safety and has now won out in the recruitment:

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Duncanson is a Georgia native that had 13 offers in his recruitment. He committed to East Carolina earlier in 2022, taking a visit there in June.

But as UNC showed interest, he made the trip to visit the program and eventually decided he wants to commit.

UNC now has 20 commitments in the 2023 class, giving them the No. 20 overall class per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.

UNC football program flips ECU commit

The UNC football program was able to flip a three-star East Carolina commit after his visit over the weekend.

The weekend wasn’t a total loss for Mack Brown and the UNC football program.

After losing to Notre Dame on Saturday afternoon in Chapel Hill, UNC didn’t have to wait long for good news. While on a visit, Brown’s program learned that they were able to flip East Carolina Ty Adams. The defensive back made the announcement on Sunday afternoon just hours after his visit was complete, per Inside Carolina.

Adams originally committed to ECU as a three-star prospect but even then, the Tar Heels kept the pressure on.

It was clear UNC was interested when they offered the commit over the Summer and getting him on campus was key. As soon as UNC could do that, they were able to impress Adams enough to get that commitment flipped.

The Georgia native gives UNC 19 total commitments in the 2023 class, which currently ranks No. 21 overall.

Tar Heels offer five-star WR out of Florida

The UNC football program has offered a big-time wide receiver in the 2024 recruiting class.

Mack Brown and the UNC football program have officially entered the race for one of the top recruits in the 2024 cycle. On Friday, the Tar Heels offered five-star receiver, Jeremy Smith, becoming the 39th team to do so.

Smith is a Florida native that is not only one of the best players at his position but one of the best in the 2024 class overall. He ranks No. 10 nationally, No. 3 wide receiver and No. 5 player in the state of Florida per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.

The Tar Heels have shown interest in Smith but are now in pursuit with the offer. But if they want to pull him out of the Sunshine State they are going to have to win tough recruiting battles against Miami, Ohio State, Alabama, USC, Florida, Florida State, LSU and Michigan among many others.

The 6-foot-3, 180-pound receiver should see his recruitment pick up even more moving forward and he will be a priority recruit for a bunch of programs.

UNC offers four-star running back in 2024 class

The UNC football program has offered a four-star running back out of the state of Florida earlier in the week.

Mack Brown and his staff at North Carolina are still prepping for the 2022 season as they open up against Florida A&M on Saturday night. But that hasn’t stopped them from paying attention to the recruiting trail, either.

Earlier in the week, the Tar Heels officially entered the race for a four-star running back out of Florida by extending a scholarship offer to Anthony Carrie.

The Tampa Bay native is one of the top players at his position in the 2024 class and now has a total of 36 offers in his recruitment. Teams like Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame and Oregon among others have offered.

North Carolina has yet to land a prospect in the 2024 class but does have several offers out. With the 2023 class still picking up momentum, let’s see if UNC can get off to a good start for the 2024 cycle as well.

Three-star WR target sets decision date

A three-star UNC football recruiting target has officially set his decision date as he will pick between the Tar Heels and Wolfpack.

Mack Brown and the UNC football program will soon know their fate for a three-star wide receiver in the 2023 recruiting class.

Charlotte native Kevin Concepcion is close to a decision as he revealed he will make his announcement on Saturday afternoon. Concepcion will announce his decision either before or during halftime of the Chambers vs. Cardinal Gibbons game. It will be the first game of Concepcion’s senior year, and he wants it to be a memorable one.

The 5-foot-11, 173-pound Concepcion has a total of 20 offers but has narrowed his list down to two and it’s a battle between UNC and NC State.

Right now, going into this decision the Wolfpack have the momentum as they hold the crystal ball predictor on 247Sports. He also has ties to the Wolfpack, potentially making them the frontrunner in this race.

Concepcion is ranked No. 106 wide receiver and the No. 21 player in thes state of North Carolina per the 247Sports rankings.

UNC Football putting pressure on ECU commit

Mack Brown and the UNC Football program are trying to flip a three-star ECU commit in the 2023 class.

Mack Brown and the UNC football program are starting to put the pressure on a three-star defensive back in the 2023 recruiting class that is already committed to East Carolina.

The Swainsboro, Georgia native committed to the Pirates back on June 19th, ending his recruitment for the time being. But since then, UNC has shown significant interest and that has escalated even more in recent days with the Tar Heels officially offering him on Friday morning.

With UNC showing significant interest, Adams has a decision to make and it appears as if the Tar Heels have a shot in this one.

Inside Carolina is reporting that Adams has scheduled his visit to UNC and will check out the campus and program despite being committed to ECU already. That’s great news for Brown and his staff as they put the full court press on the defensive back.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound Adams is a Georgia native that is ranked No. 1472 overall, No. 131 at his position and the No. 129 player in Georgia per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.

Are Tar Heels the favorites for three-star WR?

The UNC Football program might be in the drivers seat for this three-star wide receiver out of Virginia.

Mack Brown and his UNC football staff are hoping to add to their 2023 recruiting class in August. After a big end to the month of June, things have been a bit slow in terms of adding to their recruiting class.

But here in August, things could change in a hurry.

The Tar Heels have a few top targets set to make their decisions in August and already, we wrote on a four-star linebacker that UNC is the favorite for as it stands now. And there’s another player that the Tar Heels may have the inside edge for.

Three-star wide receiver Paul Billups will announce his decision on August 24th and will pick between UNC, Michigan State and Virginia Tech. But right now, there’s just one prediction in the crystal ball on 247Sports and it belongs to UNC.

Insider Steve Wiltfong made his prediction for the Tar Heels to land Billups with confidence of six.

The prediction is no guarantee but it is a good sign that the Tar Heels are the favorites for Billups. Adding the three-star recruit would certainly help the Tar Heels 20223 class and the future of the receiver position.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Virginia native is ranked No. 620 overall, No. 79 WR and No. 14 player in the state of Virginia per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.
