UNC football makes cut for three-star offensive tackle

The UNC football program made the top eight for this offensive tackle in the 2024 recruiting class.

Mack Brown and the UNC football program took a step forward in the recruitment for a three-star offensive tackle recently.

Ethan Calloway took to Twitter to cut his list of 17 offers down to a final 8 as he will focus on the following schools; North Carolina, Florida, LSU, Auburn, Penn State, Georgia, Tennessee and Florida State.

The Mooresville, North Carolina native has become a big target for the Tar Heels as they look to boost the offensive line in the 2024 class. While they made the top 8, there will be some tough competition as you can see in the teams above.

The 6-foot-7, 300-pound Calloway is ranked No. 215 nationally, No. 19 offensive tackle and the No. 4 player in the state of North Carolina per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.

There is no timetable for a decision from Calloway.

UNC football defensive lineman Bryson Jennings entering transfer portal

The UNC football program has lost another player to the transfer portal as defensive lineman Bryson Jennings makes his decision.

For the third-straight day, the UNC football program is losing a member of the roster to the transfer portal.

After Don Chapman and Gabe Stephens entered the portal earlier this week, defensive lineman Bryson Jennings is also heading to the portal he announced on Friday.

Jennings committed to North Carolina in July of 2021 as part of the 2022 class. But he didn’t see a single snap last season, using the year to redshirt for the Tar Heels. With four years of eligibility remaining, he’s looking for a better fit as he was projected to be behind a few players at his position.

With the transfer portal open again, the Tar Heels have now lost three defensive players, a side of the football they struggled with last season under Gene Chizik. The Tar Heels have yet to add a player from the portal or even show much interest so far.

The portal will close on April 30th.

Tar Heels make cut for four-star TE in 2024 class

The UNC football program cracks the top four in the recruitment for a 2024 tight end.

Mack Brown and the UNC football program took a step forward in the recruitment of a tight end in the 2024 class on Wednesday.

Four-star tight end Max LeBlanc has a total of 31 offers in his recruitment so far. And now, he’s cutting that list down to just four schools.

On Wednesday, LeBlanc revealed that he is down to North Carolina, Ohio State, Tennessee and Michigan. LeBlanc will be focusing on these programs moving forward in his recruitment and then make a commitment.

The 6-foot-3, 222-pound tight end is a native of Chattanooga, Tennessee and drew a lot of interest in his recruitment. For the Tar Heels, the competition is tough as they have to battle two Big Ten teams and an SEC program in this recruitment.

LeBlanc is ranked No. 347 overall, No. 17 tight end, and the No. 6 player in the state of Tennessee per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.

There is no timetable for LeBlanc’s decision.

UNC football lands in four-star WR’s Top 10

The UNC football program has made the top 10 for this four-star wide receiver in the 2024 recruiting class.

The UNC football program continues on with Spring practices ahead of its annual Spring Game on April 15th as Mack Brown and his staff are getting an early look at the 2023 roster.

But the future of the program is also important and that is on future recruiting classes. Over the weekend, North Carolina took a step forward in the recruitment of one wide receiver in the 2024 class as four-star recruit Braylon Staley trimmed his list of offers from 23 down to a top 10.

Staley announced via Twitter that he will be focusing on the following schools in his recruitment: North Carolina, Clemson, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Miami, Tennessee, Penn State, Florida, and Georgia Tech.

The 6-foot, 175-pound Staley is a native of Aiken South Carolina, and is ranked No. 306 nationally, No. 46 wide receiver, and the No. 5 player in the state of South Carolina per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.

The Tar Heels currently have five players committed in the 2024 class but did miss out on a quarterback target just recently. Still, the program is off to a solid start for building the future roster with this class.

On Monday, the program added their biggest recruit yet for the 2024 class with the commitment of four-star running back Davion Gause. The Hollywood, Florida native committed to North Carolina on Monday, fresh off the visit to Chapel Hill, his first on campus.

Three-star quarterback set to visit UNC football program

The UNC football program will host a class of 2024 quarterback prospect this weekend.

The UNC football program is off to a slower start for the 2024 recruiting cycle, having just three commitments early on in the cycle.

That’s the bad news. The good news is that there is a lot of time left before the class becomes official. Mack Brown and his staff have proven they can find success on the recruiting trail and getting that going for 2024 will be big.

One prospect that North Carolina has its eye on is three-star quarterback Daniel Kaelin. The Nebraska product hails out of Bellevue and is one of the more quicker risers in the 2024 class. He has a total of 15 offers so far including from UNC.

And now he’s set to visit Chapel Hill.

According to Allen Trieu of 247Sports, Kaelin is set to visit North Carolina this weekend.

It’s a significant visit as Kaelin might be ready to make a decision sometime in the Spring or Summer per Trieu.

Kaelin has offers from programs like Colorado, Nebraska, Missouri, Michigan State, Miami, Arizona State and Iowa among others. The 6-foot-2, 198-pound quarterback is ranked No. 26 at his position and the No. 3 player in the state of Nebraska per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.

It’s hard to tell who is in the lead right now for the talented prospect but UNC getting a visit is big in this recruitment.

Is UNC trying to flip four-star wide receiver?

Is the UNC football program attempting to flip a four-star wide receiver who is committed to Ohio State?

Mack Brown and the UNC football program were hoping to lure in-state wide receiver Noah Rogers to the Tar Heels before he eventually committed to Ohio State. But with early signing day looming, could the Tar Heels still be in the mix?

Rogers committed to the Buckeyes over the Summer, pledging the verbally to head to Ohio State. Since then, North Carolina as well as NC State has still been in pursuit of the talented receiver in hopes of a big flip eventually.

Now there are some rumors swirling that they could be pushing even more as Rivals points out in this tweet:

Heel Tough Blog had more on that from the Adam Friedman peace:

Friedman referenced two big elements that the Tar Heels have in their favor: the offense with Drake Maye this season and his brother being a member of the team.

It appears as if UNC is the team to watch here if there is a flip. There’s no guarantee of one and Rogers is expected to be in attendance next weekend at Ohio State vs. Michigan which could be something that plays a role in where he eventually signs.

Michigan Wolverines appear to be favorites top UNC football 5-star target

This five-star UNC football recruiting target appears to be trending toward Michigan.

The UNC football program is enjoying the success of redshirt freshman Drake Maye and his season here in 2022. Maye took over for Sam Howell, who had a fantastic career himself, as the torch was passed.

While UNC still has Jacolby Criswell and 2022 recruit Conner Harrell on the roster plus are welcoming in Tad Hudson, they are in pursuit of five-star quarterback [autotag]Jadyn Davis[/autotag].

The Charlotte product is one of the top players in the 2024 class and has drawn attention from several programs in his recruitment. With Davis making visits over the past few months, his recruitment could be coming to an end.

And for UNC, it appears as if they have a lot of ground to makeup.

247Sports recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong made his prediction for where Davis will land, and it looks like Michigan has the lead. Wilftong put in his prediction in late October with a confidence of 6.

Now, it’s not a guarantee that he lands there but crystal ball predictions are a good sign especially if an insider has information on the recruitment. So Michigan has to feel really good right now with where they are sitting.

Davis hasn’t set an official date yet but along with UNC and Michigan, programs like Penn State, Tennessee, and Alabama among others are interested.
