Three-star defensive back sets official visit to UNC

This three-star defensive back has set his official visit to the UNC football program for June.

This Summer will be a busy one for football recruits visiting the UNC football program and campus. And it all begins this weekend as Jamaal Jarrett will have his official visit.

But other prospects will be on campus in the coming weeks, including three-star defensive back [autotag]Shelton Lewis[/autotag].

The Stockbridge, Georgia native has set his official visit for three programs including North Carolina. He will visit Pitt from June 2-4, Boston College June 10-12 and then North Carolina from June 17-19. Lewis has 22 offers in his recruitment but it appears as if these three Atlantic Coast Conference programs are standing out enough to get an official visit.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound defensive back is ranked No. 894 overall, the No. 77 defensive back and No. 88 player in the state of Georgia per the 247Sports rankings.

Are Tar Heels the favorite for four-star edge rusher?

Is the UNC football program leading the way for this four-star in-state edge rusher in the 2023 class?

Since Mack Brown arrived at UNC a few years back, the football program has been able to land some of the top talent in the state of North Carolina.

And they hope that’s the case again here for the 2023 class.

Four-star edge rusher [autotag]Rico Walker[/autotag] is a name the Tar Heels have high on their recruiting board, establishing him as a priority recruit. The 6-foot-3, 233-pound Hickory native is a top 200 recruit overall and the No. 2 player in the state of North Carolina per the 247Sports rankings. But with 24 offers in his recruitment including from UNC, Clemson, Auburn, Florida, Georgia and Penn State among others, who is the favorite?

The answer just might be UNC.

The Tar Heels hold the lone crystal ball predictor on 247Sports, landing it from Clemson insider Anna Hickey. The crystal ball predictor doesn’t guarantee a commitment but it’s a way to measure where a recruit stands and is potentially leaning.

It’s good news for UNC but they do need to close the deal and get Walker committed.

Ohio State reportedly in lead for big UNC football target?

The Ohio State Buckeyes appear to be the team to beat for this top UNC football recruiting target.

Mack Brown and the UNC football program are off to a bit of a slow start in terms of the 2023 recruiting class. The Tar Heels have just two recruits verbally committed in the class but do have a bunch of offers out to prospects.

That includes a few big prospects in the state of North Carolina and one of those players is four-star wide receiver Noah Rogers. The Rolesville, North Carolina native is ranked No. 59 nationally, No. 10 at his position, and the No. 1 player in the state per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.

Rogers has a total of 24 offers in his recruitment but recently cut his list down to five schools as he’s focusing on UNC, Ohio State, Clemson, Florida State, and N.C. State. While that list is dominated by Atlantic Coast Conference teams, it appears as if Ohio State is the team to beat.

The Buckeyes hold the crystal ball prediction for Rogers with six predictions including from national recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong.

Now, the crystal ball predictor isn’t a guarantee but it’s a really good sign of where a prospect is leaning. The Buckeyes have been heavily involved in this recruitment and are appealing for a player like Rogers.

The Tar Heels aren’t out of it yet but it does sound like they have some work to do.

Tar Heels offer OL prospect from Georgia

The UNC football program is getting involved with a rising prospect in the state of Georgia by offering him on Friday.

Mack Brown and the UNC football program might be off to a slow start in the 2023 recruiting class but it’s not for a lack of trying. The Tar Heels have their recruiting board set and while they only have a two-man class for 2023 so far, they continue to dish out offers in hopes of landing more recruits.

And one of the latest prospects is out of the state of Georgia.

Offensive lineman Gabriel Fortson is the latest prospect to earn an offer from UNC, announcing that the Tar Heels have offered him a scholarship on Friday with this Tweet he sent out:

The 6-foot-4, 300-pound interior offensive lineman hails from Kennesaw, Georgia and has a total of 13 offers in his recruitment.

While he’s an unranked prospect on 247Sports, Fortson’s recruitment is really starting to heat up and he will take visits this Summer to programs that are interested in him per Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports. As of now, no visit is scheduled for UNC but it’s something we will keep an eye on moving forward.

Top UNC QB prospect sets official visits to other programs

One of the best quarterbacks in the 2024 recruiting class has set some visits to Clemson, Georgia and LSU.

One player the UNC football staff has as a priority is five-star quarterback [autotag]Jadyn Davis[/autotag]. The North Carolina product is not only one of the top quarterbacks in the 2024 class but he’s one of the top overall players in the class.

Davis is a top target for the Tar Heels as they hope to continue to land top quarterback talent following Sam Howell’s departure. But they have some tough competition.

The 6-foot, 190-pound Davis has a total of 27 offers from programs like UNC, Clemson, Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, LSU, Georgia, Ohio State, and Notre Dame among others.

Davis has been on UNC’s campus a few times now and will be back in the coming months. However, he’s also setting visits to other programs and has set up Summer visits to LSU, Clemson, and Georgia per Steve Wiltfong:

Davis recruitment doesn’t appear to be coming to an end anytime soon and him visiting other programs is going to happen. The key for UNC is to get him back on campus and continue to develop that relationship.

Four-star 2023 recruit sets official visit to UNC Football

This four-star UNC football recruiting target has set his official visit date to the Tar Heels for a weekend in May.

The recruitment for four-star defensive lineman [autotag]Jamaal Jarrett[/autotag] is starting to heat up here as Summer is upon us. The Greensboro, North Carolina native is one of the top players in the state and is high on Mack Brown’s list for the 2023 class.

But he’s also high on a few other teams including Georgia who appears to be the early frontrunner in the recruitment.

The good news for UNC is that they have the chance to sway Jarrett and a make another good impression this Summer. Jarrett revealed on Tuesday that he has set an official visit date to North Carolina for May 20th-22nd:

Taking these official visits, it does suggest that Jarrett’s recruitment is likely hitting the home stretch. He has visits to Auburn (June 3) and Georgia (June 10) lined up as well and currently that’s all left on the slate.

These three appear to be battling it out for the 6-foot-6, 350-pound defensive lineman and it’s a battle that we will be watching closely over the next few weeks.

Tar Heels offer four-star linebacker with football bloodlines

The UNC football team has offered a four-star linebacker in the 2023 class that has football bloodlines.

Mack Brown and the UNC football program have just two commitments in the 2023 recruiting class but the pursuit of recruits is starting to heat up.

UNC is still establishing its top targets on the recruiting board as well as adding more targets along the way. And one of the latest recruits offered by UNC has football bloodlines.

Four-star linebacker Troy Bowles is the son of Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles and one of the top recruits in the country. Bowles is ranked No. 44 overall, No. 3 linebacker and the No. 11 player in the state of Florida per the 247Sports rankings. He has a total of 41 offers and now the Tar Heels are getting involved.

UNC is the latest team to offer Bowles, entering the recruitment last week:

While UNC is involved, the Tar Heels have some tough competition in this recruitment.

Georgia, Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State, and Oklahoma are teams who have offered Bowles so far.

UNC football picks up crystal ball prediction for four star

Mack Brown and the UNC football program appear to be in the lead for this four-star defensive lineman in the 2023 class.

Mack Brown and the UNC football program continues their pursuit of prospects for future recruiting classes. So far, UNC has just two commitments for the 2023 class but are pushing hard for other recruits.

And they might be close to reeling one in.

Four-star defensive lineman [autotag]Daevin Hobbs[/autotag] is an in-state prospect out of Concord that plays at Jay M. Robinson High School. Hobbs has a total of 13 offers in his recruitment and is drawing interest from UNC, Missouri, Penn State, Virginia Tech and West Virginia among others. But it appears as if UNC has the lead in this one.

The Tar Heels have picked up a crystal ball prediction on 247Sports from recruiting analyst Brian Dohn with a confidence of 7. It’s the lone prediction for Hobbs at the moment.

A prediction doesn’t guarantee a commitment but with Hobbs in late June, this is a good sign for the Tar Heels moving forward.

Three-star recruit Robert Grigsby announces his top six schools

Three-star recruit Robert Grigsby announces his top six schools, and UNC football makes the cut.

With the college football season still months away, this is the time of year where recruiting is in focus for several teams.

Since Mack Brown’s return, UNC has done an amazing job in the recruiting department snagging a lot of big targets for their classes. Now, three-star offensive lineman Robert Grigsby could be adding his roots to the UNC tree.

Grigsby took to Twitter and announced his top six teams where the Tar Heels were one of them.

Grigsby is 6-3, 310 pounds out of Kennesaw Georgia. His size and speed clobbers the defenses and opens holes for his running backs to walk through. He was a 2021 All-region selection, who is diverse on the offensive line, however, the majority of the snaps saw him at right tackle. His pass blocking ability helped led North Cobb High School to back-to-back regional titles.

Grigsby is a part of the 2023 class, so sorry Tar Heel fans you will have to wait a bit to see him Carolina blue. If he does commit he will join four-star quarterback Tad Hudson, who is the lone commitment so far in the class.

Tar Heels getting big visit from four-star DT this weekend

UNC football is hosting a big time four-star defensive tackle for a visit this weekend.

The North Carolina football program will be hosting another big time visitor this weekend in addition to four-star safety [autotag]Michael Daughtery[/autotag].

2023 four-star defensive tackle [autotag]Jamaal Jarrett[/autotag] will also be on campus this weekend in Chapel Hill visiting UNC. Jarrett has offers from Georgia, North Carolina, Auburn, Michigan, Florida, Miami (Fla), Penn State, Tennessee and many more.

Jarrett was also on UNC’s campus twice last summer.

Jarrett has been a big time prospect on North Carolina’s recruiting board for much of the past year and the Tar Heels sit in a good spot for the four-star DT along with Georgia, but it may be difficult to keep Jarrett in-state after a recent visit to Georgia.

Rivals national writer Adam Gorney recently took a look at Jarrett’s recruitment.

Georgia and North Carolina are the front-runners for Jamaal Jarrett and while I’m never going to count out coach Mack Brown and the Tar Heels for an in-state prospect, the Bulldogs look tough to beat. He had such a great experience there for two days getting to know the coaches and players, sitting in on meetings and experiencing everything Georgia has to offer. If I had to pick right now, Georgia is clearly the frontrunner.

North Carolina has one commitment in the class of 2023 from quarterback [autotag]Tad Hudson[/autotag].
