UNC football vs. Georiga State: Game preview, info, prediction and more

We take a look at what you need to know for the UNC football program’s matchup against Georgia State this Saturday.

The North Carolina Tar Heels will hit the road to take on Georgia State this weekend as the Tar Heels hope to move to 3-0 on the early season.  It’s the second-straight road game for the Tar Heels early on and another chance to hopefully fix their defense and get things straight.

After their 63-61 nail-biting win against Appalachian State, UNC is favored by 7.5  on the road as this won’t be an easy task as some may think.

North Carolina’s passing attack is their most vital weapon heading into this game, with quarterback [autotag]Drake Maye[/autotag] already having nine passing touchdowns through two games.

This game is UNC’s second time playing the Panthers, beating them last season 59-17 at home. The player to stop on Georgia State is sixth-year running back James Williams.

Williams uses his experience and speed to burst through holes, finishing with 76-yards on 13 carries last weekend. Georgia State barely moved the ball in the air with only 29 passing attempts compared to their 40 rushings tries. An aggressive attack against the run should limit the Panther’s offense in a significant way, giving UNC a decent margin of victory.

2022 UNC Football Preview: Running back

We take a look at the 2022 running back position preview as British Brooks, and D.J Jones looks to take the driver seat this season.

This season UNC fans are in for a special treat when it comes to the running back position. After a dreadful 6-7 season, one of the highlights came from running the ball with transfer Ty Chandler carrying the work load, leading him to get drafted in the fifth round by the Minnesota Vikings.

Now with another running back sent to the NFL, UNC finds themselves needing another lead back for the second year in a row

Senior [autotag]British Brooks[/autotag] and junior [autotag]D.J. Jones[/autotag] are set to be the two feature backs competing to carry the rock like Javonte Williams once did. UNC, often a run heavy team, could take on that same identity as they prepare to move past the Sam Howell era.

It’s no secret that head coach Mack Brown loves to use multiple backs with a conservative style drive down the field. This will open the door for fresh legs with each running back on the roster possessing a useful skill.

As the regular season approaches, we decided to continue our position preview with the running back position and look at, not only Brooks and Jones, but the depth behind them.

2022 UNC Football Preview: Quarterback position

We take a look at the 2022 quarterback position preview as the battle between Drake Maye and Jacolby Criswell continues on.

Arguably the biggest storyline for the UNC football program going into this season is at the quarterback position. With Sam Howell off the NFL, UNC has it’s first true quarterback competition since the 2019 offseason.

Redshirt freshman [autotag]Drake Maye[/autotag] and sophomore [autotag]Jacolby Criswell[/autotag] have been battling it out all offseason to win the starting job. And so far, no true leader has emerged which could be a good or bad thing.

Head coach Mack Brown and his staff aren’t holding back in this contest and are throwing everything at the two. As training camp continues on, it doesn’t appear we are any closer to naming a winner and UNC could wait until the week of their opening game to decide who gets the nod.

As the regular season approaches, we decided to kickoff our position preview with the quarterback position and look at not only Maye and Criswell but the depth behind them.
